Jason Fitz is joined by Senior NFL Reporter Jori Epstein as the duo go behind the scenes on the biggest NFL stories. The duo kick things off with Dak Prescott's contract negotiations with the Dallas Cowboys and whether or not we could see something get done soon.

The franchise tag deadline has come and gone, and Jori sees some clear winners and losers. Fitz and Jori point out Chris Jones and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as winners, while the Denver Broncos and Russell Wilson, the New York Giants and the free agent running backs are losers.

Later, Fitz and Jori put quarterback-needy teams under the spotlight as they determine their level of trust in the franchises to execute their quarterback plan this offseason. They discuss the Las Vegas Raiders, Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants and Tennessee Titans.

2:05 - Dak Prescott contract negotiations

12:45 - Franchise tag deadline winners & losers

36:55 - Court of trust for QB-needy teams

Jason Fitz is joined by Yahoo Sports Senior NFL Reporter Jori Epstein to cover the latest flurry of news around the NFL, including the Amari Cooper and Davante Adams trades, a quarterback battle in Pittsburgh, updates from the owners meetings, potential pass rusher trades and predictions for the Thursday night game.

Fitz and Jori kick things off with the New York Jets pushing all their chips in with their latest move to acquire Davante Adams, and why the move is actually a better deal than some might think. The Amari Cooper trade was a great move for the Buffalo Bills, but signals some (more) concern about the Cleveland Browns and their direction.

In other news, Russell Wilson is healthy, and so the quarterback competition in Pittsburgh is back on. Jori breaks down why Mike Tomlin seems to want to make a change. Also, Tom Brady is officially a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, and the hosts break down the potential tampering problems that could arise from his broadcasting role, what Brady's relationship with Mark Davis will be like and more.

The Detroit Lions suffered a major loss last weekend in Aidan Hutchinson, and Jori and Fitz discuss who Detroit might target to acquire a pass rusher in a trade, including Haason Reddick, Maxx Crosby, Josh Hines-Allen and Myles Garrett before wrapping up with their picks for the Thursday night matchup between the Denver Broncos and New Orleans Saints.

(1:45) WR trades! Adams to New York & Cooper to Buffalo

(19:40) QB controversy in Pittsbugh

(27:35) What Tom Brady means for the Raiders & Jerry Jones' fateful radio hit

Nate Tice & Charles McDonald join forces to preview some very juicy matchups ahead of an exciting Week 7 slate of NFL action. The duo start with the Houston Texans visiting the Green Bay Packers, as the two hosts tell the tale of one amazing quarterback who's being set up to succeed, and another great quarterback who's doing it despite the surrounding offensive system.

Next up is the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the San Francisco 49ers in a Super Bowl rematch, as Charles breaks down why people need to calm down about the Chiefs offense not putting up explosive numbers, and Nate explains the dilemma facing Kyle Shanahan about how to attack the Steve Spagnuolo defense.

The Baltimore Ravens head to Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Charles breaks down what makes the Ravens offense so unstoppable, while Nate explains how Baker and the Bucs can keep it close.

Finally, Nate and Charles deep dive on the NFC North showdown between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings. Sam Darnold had an off-game two weeks ago, and Charles wonders if that's just his floor if he's returning to the Darnold of old. On the other side of the ball, Brian Flores has to prepare for an absolute hoss fight against the bullying Detroit offense.

The hosts wrap up with a mailbag question on their favorite superhero movies.

(18:30) Kansas City Chiefs @ San Francisco 49ers

Nate Tice & Matt Harmon give their reactions to a HUGE day of news around the NFL before dishing out takeaways from Week 6 through the lens of their top ten power rankings.

The duo start with the news that Amari Cooper has been traded to the Buffalo Bills, as both are VERY excited about what Cooper can bring to the Bills offense. Davante Adams was also traded to the New York Jets in a slightly less exciting move, but one that will no doubt help the Jets offense. In other news, Russell Wilson will reportedly get his chance to start for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Nate and Matt give their thoughts on why the (somewhat perplexing) move was made.

Later, Nate and Matt each made a top ten power rankings list separately, and they announce them live on the show before debating their biggest differences, including the Houston Texans, Green Bay Packers, Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings and more.

(2:15) Amari Cooper to the Bills

(18:55) Russell Wilson will take over QB1 role in Pittsburgh

Charles Robinson and Frank Schwab recap Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs victory over Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. The duo analyze what the victory means for Kansas City, the performance of each team's offense and defense, the controversial holding penalty and finish things off with a look at the key upcoming offseason decisions for each team.

00:30 - General takeaways: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes overcame a high ankle sprain he suffered three weeks earlier to defeat the Eagles at the buzzer in Super Bowl LVII.

7:00 - Charles and Frank discuss the controversial defensive holding call on James Bradberry at the end of the game, and both agree that the penalty was actually the correct call.

18:00 - Eagles offense: Jalen Hurts had a great game and probably deserved Super Bowl MVP.

24:50 - Chiefs offense looked unstoppable. Charles and Frank give Head Coach Andy Reid a lot of credit for scheming so well against an elite Eagles defense.

Yahoo Sports NFL - Top takeaways from the 2023 NFL owner's meetings
play

03/30/23 • 64 min

Charles Robinson is joined by Jori Epstein to recap the biggest takeaways coming out of the 2023 NFL owner's meetings, including the potential sale of the Washington Commanders, new changes to the 2023 NFL rule book and the latest on Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson. Later, the duo discuss two teams who are heading into pivotal seasons in 2023: the Cleveland Browns and the New England Patriots.

00:25 - Kansas City Chiefs superfan "Chiefsaholic" arrested for an alleged bank robbery. Charles and Jori joke about how this all went down and dive into one of the more interesting stories out of the offseason.

6:50 - A group has come forward with a fully financed bid to purchase the Washington Commanders. Charles believes it's only a matter of time before the deal goes through and Dan Snyder is no longer the owner.

20:10 - New rule changes: Charles and Jori give their analysis on the three biggest changes to the NFL rule book this season – players wearing the number zero, teams potentially playing two Thursday night games and only one roster cut down date at the end of the preseason.

35:35 - Lamar Jackson returns to Twitter, but this time the duo agree that he might be doing more harm to his contract negotiations than good. Jackson elaborated on the severity of his injuries last season, which could make it even less likely he gets the fully guaranteed contract offer he's reportedly looking for.

43:55 - This is a pivotal season for the Cleveland Browns and QB Deshaun Watson. Watson received a historically massive guaranteed contract last season, and so far it's looking like a mistake.

52:50 - Is there a rift growing between New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft? Comments from Kraft at the owner's meeting seem to indicate so. If Belichick's roster doesn't begin showing improvement this season, could we see the legendary coach on the hot seat in 2024?

The murder of George Floyd has cast an unfortunate spotlight on the city of Minneapolis and in the coming months, we'll see how the city's institutions, including its sports teams, react. The University of Minnesota, for example, cut ties with the Minneapolis Police Department, but could we see the Vikings follow suit?

Terez Paylor & Charles Robinson open the podcast with some questions the NFL world must address in relation to the ongoing social unrest as a result of Floyd's death.

Is it a legitimate or an empty gesture that the NFL announced a plan to donate $250 million over 10 years to causes related to social injustice? What would it take for the Vikings, or any NFL franchise, end their relationship to their local PD? How should teams address players who wish to kneel for the anthem when games resume this fall?

Later in the show, Terez & Charles break down comments Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians made about potentially keeping one backup QB out of the facility this season as a "quarantine quarterback." (21:20)

They also discuss the league's consideration of decreasing the amount of pre-season games from four to two for each franchise. (25:50)

Charles describes the collective exasperation most franchises have with Jadeveon Clowney at this point, as the former first overall pick remains unsigned. (36:00)

Our experts wrap up the show with some listener questions about how organizations are handling the Black Lives Matter movement and which players with the franchise tag we could expect to see signed or traded. (43:45)

Jason Fitz is joined by Senior NFL Reporters Jori Epstein and Charles Robinson to go behind the scenes on the biggest storylines of the week. First up is the news that Browns QB Deshaun Watson will undergo season-ending surgery on his throwing shoulder. This carries massive implications for the Browns both this year and in the future given what they gave up for Watson, and Charles takes us inside the Browns front office to shed light on some of the decisions that led them to this point, including who is to blame for some of the roster's shortcomings.

Later, the trio react to the Bills firing OC Ken Dorsey and discuss how this season went south for a team that was expected to be in Super Bowl contention. The group discuss Josh Allen and his apparent regression, the leadership of Sean McDermott and what the future of the Bills could hold if they continue to struggle.

Finally, the hosts discuss the Jets and how Robert Saleh's continued defense of Zach Wilson could cause issues in the locker room. Jori analyzes Saleh's media strategy and points out that while Saleh is appeasing both Zach Wilson and Aaron Rodgers, he could start to lose the team's faith if the Jets continue to lose.

00:30 - Inside the Cleveland Browns front office as Deshaun Watson is out for the season

28:20 - Buffalo Bills fire OC Ken Dorsey

43:05 - Is Robert Saleh handling Zach Wilson the right way?
