Pressing questions in the AFC and NFC West, also Jason Witten?
Yahoo Fantasy Forecast
03/01/19 • 56 min
We are joined on this week's podcast by human sports encyclopedia, Scott Pianowski. Scott is here to give us more details about the upcoming Yahoo Fantasy Baseball Podcast, which premieres Monday, March 4!
Scott will be joined by Yahoo Sports’ Andy Behrens and Dalton Del Don, plus a rotating cast of experts and friends, for a not-so-serious talk about fantasy, reality, and so much more.
Back in the world of football, the team starts off the episode with the puzzling news that former Cowboys TE Jason Witten is putting down the microphone and returning to form as current Cowboys TE Jason Witten (6:50).
Later, they dive into Liz’s offseason columns examining the 10 most interesting players to monitor. This week, they tackle the fifth and sixth additions to her list, Tevin Coleman (12:00) and Drew Brees (18:10).
Our experts also take a deeper look at Matt’s weekly major fantasy questions column, where he breaks down the biggest issues each team in every division is facing this offseason.
This week, we're doubling up! Not only do our experts take a look at the Raiders, Broncos, Chargers, and Chiefs in the AFC West (25:45), but they'll also break down the Cardinals, 49ers, Seahawks, and Rams of the NFC West (42:05).
They’ll discuss what the Raiders can do with all those draft picks, can Jimmy G's return turn the 49ers into a contender, can the Chiefs match their defense to their offense, will the Rams recover (and retool) after their devastating Super Bowl loss, and so much more.

'Stick to sports,' Coronavirus concerns, and who will fill Deebo's shoes?
Yahoo Fantasy Forecast
06/19/20 • 42 min
Welcome to the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Podcast! Liz Loza and Matt Harmon return after a brief hiatus with a new episode of the Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast to talk Coronavirus, Deebo Samuel's foot injury, and the idea of 'sticking to sports.'
You might've noticed that for the past two weeks or so that we haven't had a show.
In the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder, and the ensuing protests which we support here, we felt wasn’t right to be joking and just focusing on fantasy football while we're all thinking about and facing the realities of systemic racism in the country.
We want this show to be a place where we’re able to talk to each other honestly about what we're thinking, when it comes to fantasy football, but also beyond sports. So if you’re looking for a place where we just stick to sports, this podcast isn’t it.
Dr. Anthony Fauci says that there shouldn't be a season without a bubble: "Unless players are essentially in a bubble — insulated from the community and they are tested nearly every day — it would be very hard to see how football is able to be played this fall." Liz shares some nuggets from her conversations with an orthopedist and epidemiologist about what to expect this season.
And, one nugget of fantasy news, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel broke his foot recently and is expected to miss the start of the 2020 NFL Season. Will someone else in the receiving corps fill his shoes?

Week 3 Recap: It's Daniel Jones and Kyle Allen's NFL, we just live in it
Yahoo Fantasy Forecast
09/23/19 • 49 min
What if I told you that the top-scoring fantasy quarterbacks of Week 3 before Sunday Night Football would be Patrick Mahomes (duh), Russell Wilson (fine), Deshaun Watson (expected), DANIEL JONES (huh?) and KYLE ALLEN (what?!)?
I’d sound crazy, but in a week when 20 quarterbacks under the age of 26 started an NFL game, that indeed is the result at the quarterback position #TheFutureIsNow. Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss those performances and much more in the latest Yahoo Fantasy Football podcast.
They open the show recapping a trio of games: the Lamar Jackson/Patrick Mahomes duel in Kansas City (0:35), Russell Wilson and Tyler Locket putting up some impressive numbers against the Saints (3:30) and and the disappointing Chargers showing at home against the Texans (6:05).
Kyle Allen and Daniel Jones showed out for their respective teams en route to impressive victories. Daniel Jones — who lost Saquon Barkley to an ankle injury early — attacked the Buccaneers with his arm and his legs, totaling four touchdowns (11:10). Allen helped showcase just how potent this Panthers offense can be, aiding Christian McCaffrey, Greg Olsen, and Curtis Samuel to big days (16:05).
Elsewhere in the NFL, the dominant 49ers from last weekend? They were nowhere to be seen, barely eking out a win versus the uninspired Steelers (23:45). Matt breaks down another week with his roller-coaster favorite team.
The Vikings continued to prove that this is the Dalvin Cook show, with some Adam Thielen sprinkled in (three catches, 55 yards, one touchdown, one rush, one touchdown) (27:20). It’s Cook’s third 100+ yard rushing game of the season.
Playing without DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery, Carson Wentz and the Eagles primarily turned to Miles Sanders (126 total yards) and Nelson Agholor (50 yards, two touchdowns) in a loss against the Lions (30:55). How will this offense look when everyone is healthy again?
The Atlanta Falcons continue to put up great numbers for their fantasy owners, but have a hard time pulling away with the W in real life. Matt and Liz try to make sense of this confounding team (34:15).
No one is confused about Minshew Mania, however. Liz takes a victory lap after the Jags got their first win of the season against the Tennessee Titans and our experts wonder not when, but if Nick Foles will return (36:45).
Liz and Matt wrap up this episode talking pickups for Week 4, including Phillip Dorsett, Preston Williams and coming off his surprising Week 3 performance, Buffalo Bills tight end, Dawson Knox (41:30).

Week 9 Wrap-Up: Lions, Jets, Ravens and other fantasy let-downs
Yahoo Fantasy Forecast
11/05/18 • 39 min
Week 9's Sunday action has come and gone, and we officially have no more undefeated teams left in the league. Yes, the Los Angeles Rams finally fell, moving to 8-1 after a 45-35 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Alvin Kamara played a huge part in that victory, scoring three touchdowns before halftime. Remember when people were freaking out about Ingram cutting into Kamara's value? Well, if Week 9 is any indication, Kamara is in no danger whatsoever going down the line.
Our experts analyze Kamara and much more on this week’s podcast (16:15). They break down the return of some injured stars (DALVIN COOK AT LAST)(19:00), as well as the impressive run the Panthers are on (what a game, Christian McCaffrey, what a game)(12:15). They also talk about a few of the offenses that they're just not on anymore (what happened, Baltimore?)(1:00).
Our experts then hear your thoughts on the fantasy players who let owners down on Sunday (22:30). Don't worry, we feel for you, Mike Evans and John Brown owners.
They also offer up a couple of pickup options for Week 10 when Denver, Minnesota, Baltimore, and Houston will be on bye (33:30).

Advanced Stats 101: What they are and what can they predict?
Yahoo Fantasy Forecast
08/20/20 • 48 min
Dalton Del Don is joined by Ben Baldwin of The Athletic, aka the Computer Cowboy, to talk all advanced stats in fantasy and much more on the latest episode of the Yahoo Fantasy Football Forecast!
First up, some news that scared probably everyone in the fantasy community: Miles Sanders got hurt in training camp with what is being called a “lower-body injury.” He’s been labeled week-to-week with the injury, and the talented RB will reportedly be ready for Week 1. Should fantasy managers be worried about Sanders, Yahoo’s consensus RB10?
Next, Ben and Dalton get into some advanced stats, including the specific ones they look at, what those stats measure, and what they miss.what advanced stats do you look at? What do they measure? Why do they matter? What do they miss? These stats include EPA, CPOE and SOE. We promise these acronyms will make sense once you listen! (01:30)
Dalton and Ben look through the quarterback landscape in the NFL and used advanced stats to take a look at some potential regression candidates, breakouts and players that have relocated like Tom Brady, Ryan Tannehill and Cam Newton to see how their 2020 seasons could turn out.
Finally, Dalton and Ben discuss the state of the Seattle Seahawks, including their fantasy outlook, why Pete Carroll hates Russell Wilson (okay so maybe hate is too strong but just let the man throw the ball!), and the Jamal Adams trade. (40:30)
Remember to stay tuned to the Yahoo Fantasy Football Forecast, which will now have FIVE new episodes per week!

NFC West backfields and RB/TE rankings showdown
Yahoo Fantasy Forecast
05/22/20 • 55 min
Running backs are almost always the talk of the town when it comes to early fantasy football projections and predictions, but there’s a pair of NFC West backfields that haven’t really been getting much attention, until now.
[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today]
While the backfield is San Francisco doesn’t have a true every down, big-name workhorse, it’s one that should have tons of potential value. Supposed RB1, Raheem Mostert, recently told the media that he’s bulking up so that he can handle 200+ carries this season. Are we buying the breakout for Mostert? (13:16)
Elsewhere in the NFC West, Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Sean McVay said, "We feel we've got three really good backs." "What we wanted to do was get a group that we felt really good about ... This enables us to say, 'We're not necessarily committed to any approach, it's a feel for the flow of the game.” That's not exactly a ringing endorsement to take Cam Akers early in fantasy drafts. (18:36)
Matt Harmon is joined by Dalton Del Don discuss those backfields and much more on the latest fantasy football podcast.
Matt and Dalton also debate some players they disagree with from their rankings; specifically, their running backs (24:02) like J.K. Dobbins and Derrius Guice, and tight ends like T.J. Hockenson and Austin Hooper (41:24). Next week, they’ll throw down over their QB and WR rankings!
