IGEL, provider of the secure endpoint OS for now and next, today from IGEL DISRUPT 24 announced that it has released a new program for IGEL app developers along with a software development toolkit (SDK) to empower the rapid delivery of new and proven solutions for IGEL customers and their supporting ecosystem. Resulting apps from developer program vendor members using the new SDK will be added to the growing IGEL App Portal which now features 50 validated apps for use in IGEL-powered environments, providing customers with fast and flexible updates and functionality.

We then look at what is sustainability and why it has become so important to companies. In fact, most companies annual reports now include sustainability as a strategic business objective.

We look at the pandemic and the impact it is had on the environment and how remote working is a key driver in reducing emissions.

We also investigate how EUC has a major impact on emissions and is responsible for 1% of Global emissions which is on a par with the airline industry which I thought was a shocking statistic.

XenTegra - IGEL Weekly - IGEL Weekly: UNLEASH THE FULL POWER OF AVD WITH NERDIO AND IGEL
play

02/10/22 • 50 min

The Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) service emerged in 2019 with the promise of ubiquitous delivery of enterprise-class virtual apps, desktops, and cloud workspaces to organizations around the world. It signalled Microsoft’s full, strategic embracement of the cloud as a viable and powerful source for organizations of any size to literally run some or all their business from the Azure cloud. Shortly after its arrival, it became clear that using AVD is not a trivial matter.
Many organizations have struggled to get up and running with the service, partly since AVD is still in its “early days” (became generally available in September of 2019), and partly because the service itself, to be fully utilized, can be complex and tedious for many IT organizations.
This is where Nerdio has stepped in, to enable organizations of any size to migrate to AVD quickly and easily, and once using the service, to take full advantage of its potential. IGEL OS is the next-gen edge OS for cloud workspaces. Simple, smart, and secure, it allows organizations’ endpoint devices to access AVD and other forms of DaaS and VDI in the most secure, cost-effective, and user-friendly way for both end-users and IT staff.
For firms looking to start taking advantage of AVD in the most timely and effective manner, combining the technologies from Nerdio and IGEL can make the journey to AVD fast and easy. Let’s look at some of the most compelling reasons to consider Nerdio and IGEL as key “table stakes” elements you must have in place if you plan to use AVD.

XenTegra - IGEL Weekly - IGEL Weekly: IGEL Secure Digital Signage
play

12/10/24 • 23 min

I recall a few years ago buying a new car, it was a Hyundai Coupe, I’d never seen one before and thought I’d get something different.

As soon as I got the key and drove it, I saw them all over the place!

Not so unique after all.

This phenomenon is called ‘Intentional Blindness’ or ‘Perceptual Blindness’, when we don’t notice something in our field of view because we are busy focusing on something else.

I think this is akin to the pervasiveness of Digital Signage, it is everywhere we simply don’t see it.

Until it goes wrong...

IGEL helps companies to quickly recover, whenever productive work comes to a halt due to an IT outage.

IGEL offers a secure read-only lightweight Linux Operating System allowing you to convert existing PC’s to IGEL OS or boot from USB (thus not affecting the existing Operating System or data) whilst in a Disaster Recovery situation, allowing users to connect to services such as VDI, DaaS and\or WEB and SaaS applications.

In a DR scenario IGEL OS will work without the need for management infrastructure to be setup and configured, simply boot to IGEL OS, download evaluation licenses for 90 days; install any client applications you require to connect to your VDI, DaaS and\or WEB and SaaS applications and get your users back up and running FAST.

This may also have the advantage of granting the IT team breathing space whilst they continue to troubleshoot any ongoing outages.
