Finding Internal Freedom Through Gratitude and Honor with Local Sound
Worship Online Podcast
09/12/19 • 52 min
This week we could not be more excited to be sitting down with Jared Runion & Emily Wyant of Local Sound! Founded and led by Jared Runion, the band grew out of the Nashville, Tennessee, college and young adult ministry MyLocal615.
Local Sound lives and breathes to support the work of the local church and the lives of young adults by spreading the Gospel through relevant, inspiring and message-driven songs that express the joy found in a life fully devoted to Christ.
“We fully back God's dream for The Local Church and we believe that God designed the local church as ‘plan A’—to immerse the world in His culture. We were never intended to be the products of temporary culture... we were made to be distributors of an eternal one.” - Jared Runion
In episode 90, we talk about why there seems to be a rapid disinterest in God among the youth, how to honor past and future leadership, separating the message from the method, and how to actually find true internal freedom through gratitude.
I can’t say enough about the amount of wisdom that is packed into this episode, so be sure to listen and share this episode with anyone who needs it!

Choosing Worship with Chris Llewellyn from Rend Collective
Worship Online Podcast
04/02/20 • 44 min
In episode 112 we are honored to be joined by Chris Llewellyn from Rend Collective of Northern Ireland to talk about the importance of choosing to worship despite our circumstance.
We recorded this episode a few days before the Coronavirus hit the United States hard, and since then, our entire world has changed. Despite what we didn't know, this episode comes at exactly the right time. With millions of people unemployed and hundreds of thousands infected and dying, now more than ever, we need to worship.
"Life is hard. Worship will not always or even usually be our default setting...but like a pilot encountering dangerous landing conditions, when these storms gather over us we have to switch off autopilot, wrestle back the controls and manually, intentionally choose worship. Because God is still worthy in the valley. He is good when life is not. And that’s the anchor of our souls." -Chris Llewellyn from Rend Collective
Don't miss this powerful episode as we unpack what it takes to worship in the valley, and talk about the heart behind their new album, “Choose to Worship” out now!
"This album is an invitation into the spiritual discipline that we have been living as a community of building altars of praise in the darkness, trusting that whether or not the dawn comes, worship is still our sacred duty - and privilege. We hope this album gives you a vocabulary so that you can sing from the shackles, lift an anthem of defiance against your circumstances, and raise a shout of joy that demoralizes the enemy in his attempts to silence you. We hope that nothing will ever steal your song. We hope that you will join us in choosing worship." -Rend Collective

Bringing Unity and Kingdom Mindset Amidst Racial Injustice
Worship Online Podcast
05/28/20 • 33 min
There are no words that can capture the heartache we all feel after hearing of the unjustifiable killing of George Floyd.
Racism is evil. It should not exist. It is not from God.
It shouldn’t take video after video for our country to take responsibility for the amount of evil and prejudice that still exists in America today.
On Monday, May 25 in Minneapolis, 46-year-old George Floyd was killed by a white police officer who pinned him to the ground for over 8 minutes until he could no longer breathe. The encounter was caught on a viral video that has since sparked national outrage over the amount of racial injustice that still exists in this nation.
Our guest this week, Ryan Williams, is an incredibly gifted songwriter, worship pastor, and lead singer of the worship group River Valley Worship, a faith-filled collection of artists based out of River Valley Church, with locations all around the greater Minneapolis region
The timing of this podcast was nothing short of the work of the Holy Spirit, with Ryan’s home church just minutes from where George Floyd was killed and where the ever-growing riots are currently taking place.
In light of that, we felt led to completely scrap our original plan and talk about bringing unity and Kingdom mindset amidst racial injustice.
Ryan also shares how when writing their newest record, “Altars”, every edit and change they decided to make was perfectly orchestrated by the Holy Spirit. For such a time as this.
Don’t miss this powerful episode and be sure to listen to "Altars" by River Valley Worship now available!

Why We Play Worship Music & The Heart Behind It
Worship Online Podcast
12/31/17 • 24 min
In this episode, we talk about the heart behind worship. The "Seek First" principle is something we should all have as a number one priority in our lives as Christians... especially as worship leaders. Matthew 6:33 says “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”
The entire point of leading worship is to help other people connect with this truth. When we seek God first, He becomes the foundation of our lives and everything else is a bonus... a blessing. When He is first, and his people (Kingdom) are a priority in our lives, then playing, singing, charts, sets, etc. all become secondary... simply put, they are expressions or tools that we use to help facilitate an encounter with God, with him being the ultimate priority and focus.
This is why aside from our introduction, it’s our first official episode... because it’s the most important... the foundation for this entire podcast. As we unpack more logistics, questions, things to make us sharper in the world of worship leading and music... we will always point back to Episode 2. The reflection of what we discuss will always go back to our heart for seeking first the very presence of God, His Kingdom, His righteousness.
We’re excited to go on this journey with you and can’t wait to explore this next chapter with you on the podcast!

Identifying the Real Enemy, Managing Fear, and Finding Peace in a Pandemic
Worship Online Podcast
05/14/20 • 32 min
In a time where toilet paper is a rare commodity, countless people are out of work, and popular cities feel like ghost towns, it’s hard not to feel like we’re in the middle of an apocalyptic movie.
Our normal way of living has been flipped upside down.
Whether you can see it right now or not, God is using this situation for good. It’s what He does.
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Genesis 50:20
I believe dramatic revival will come from this season. God uses the disruptions of the enemy (link to blog) to reset areas of complacency, establish a stronger foundational core, and ultimately build new callings for our lives.
In episode 118, we’re honored to be joined by Jordan Holt, (Worship Online Instructor & Guitarist for Kari Jobe) to talk about identifying the real enemy, managing fear, and finding peace in a pandemic. Listen in!
