With Whit
Dear Media, Whitney Port
I'm Whitney Port, and a lot has happened since you last saw me on The Hills. For starters, I'm a mom, I got married to the love of my life, Timmy, I run a business outside of fashion - it's time we finally catch up. There are so many facets that make up my life: relationships, parenthood, entrepreneurship, beauty, fashion, health, wellness and much more. Join me each week as we meet and discuss all these topics and more with trusted experts and favorite people on earth. Hopefully, we can embark on this new journey together with openness, honesty and a little bit of Whit.

Empty house all to myself called for a new solo audio journal! A lot of you have questions about reality TV. So I went into a reflective dive on my experience filming 'The Hills' and 'The City' while answering the question if I'd ever do reality TV again. I also updated you on everything going on with me - what I'm grateful for, recovering from our disaster Europe trip, interviewing for Sonny's next school (HIGH PRESSURE), and more. Finally, I shared advice on finding room for light during a potentially heavy week during Thanksgiving. My heart is with everyone who will feel emotional holes this week. Lean on your loved ones extra hard.

It’s me, again! Here to answer a lot of questions you had for me about mental health. Per the norm, talking about all of this with you was so cathartic, so thank you for asking me!! I have recently come to understand that I battle with imposter syndrome. I honestly haven’t really known what that meant, but I definitely have it. Feeling like my life was handed to me on 'The Hills' and 'The City' has made me feel like I haven’t earned my career. The reality is that 100% isn’t true. I have made the life that I have for myself with hard work and I am proud of it. During this episode, I talk about imposter syndrome, my therapy journey, mantras that help me battle my inner voice, grief, and lots more. I hope this is helpful to each of you trying to find your way! Don’t be afraid to be yourself.

What is up, how are we all? We got a little dressed up, brought a bottle of wine into the studio, and cranked up the energy of this date night, starting with my relationship with my boobs, our therapists, the pros and cons of taking Sonny to Hawaii with us, and generally how we're settling into this grand new year so far. Also, the Bear isn't that good and Taylor Swift should chill about Jo Koy's joke. Cheers to Blend!

When I was in D.C., I had the privilege of interviewing two amazing individuals and survivors. Dion Green who lost his father in the Dayton Ohio shooting, and Megan Dearman who lost her 6 year old cousin in the Aurora movie theater shooting. I feel so strongly about giving them the space to share themselves and their stories. We cannot become numb and turn away, we have to listen and support each other. I cannot thank Dion and Megan enough for opening up to me so beautifully, it's something I'll never forget.

I think it is safe to say that the majority of women in the United States are on some form of birth control. I was told to start taking the birth control pill when I was 18 years old for acne. I know I am not the only one who’s relationship with birth control started that way. I had an incredible conversation with Sarah E. Hill, PHD all about the birth control pill and the effects it has on women’s brains and hormones. Dr. Hill, a research psychologist and professor who studies health, relationships, and other forms of social behavior using the super-generative theoretical tools available from the evolutionary sciences. Dr. Hill shares her extensive research on birth control in her new book This is Your Brain on Birth Control. This book provides an even-handed, science-based understanding of who women are, both on and off the pill. It’s so amazing that she is getting answers to questions that women deserve to know and have trouble getting. We need to understand the full picture of birth control and what it does.
For more information about birth control from Dr. Hill, check out her book This is Your Brain on Birth Control. You can get it here off of Amazon!

I am always a little bit scared to get super vulnerable on social media, especially about my plights with motherhood. However, every time I do, I get such amazing and validating feedback from my followers. I was thrilled to learn that Michelle Kennedy created a larger platform for these meaningful motherhood conversations. In 2017, she launched Peanut, a “dating app” just for moms! This app connects women throughout the US and UK. (They have over 1 MILLION USERS!) It provides a safe space for conversation about tough experiences and an opportunity to meet/become friends with other moms. I think this entire concept is SO GENIUS. It can be hard to make friends as an adult and especially hard to make fellow “mom friends.” During this episode, we discuss the journey of the app’s creation as well as how important it is to not be afraid to discuss heavy issues...you never know who you might impact.

I'm so excited to have a style and fashion podcast for you, it's been too long! I had so much fun talking to Julia Rabinowitz, also known as The Millennial Decorator, about all things vintage fashion. She curates and sources vintage pieces from all around the world and is a complete pro at tracking down the best things. She gives me the run-down of her themed drops throughout the year, everything she does is thoughtful and clearly full of love. Also, she has some top notch fashion tips for anyone looking to streamline their personal style. Enjoy!

Timmy and I did SO much research before sending Sonny to school. We wanted to make sure we sent him to a place that was the right fit for all of us. As Sonny was wrapping up his time at the Portable Classroom to go to the Montessori School he is now at full time, I had this amazing conversation with Diane Tavenner. She is the co-founder and CEO of Summit Public Schools, a leading network of public schools that operates 11 schools in California and Washington, as well as a free program that enables schools across the U.S. to implement Summit Learning, a nationally recognized personalized approach to teaching and learning. She is also author of Prepared: What Kids Need for a Fulfilled Life. During our chat Diane shares her teaching philosophy and tips for developing daily routines with our kids!

One of the hardest parts about quarantine is not being able to be physically close with my family like I normally am. I am so grateful that all my family members are safe and healthy. Like everyone else in the world, we are experiencing our own unique, very personal AND valid challenges. My older sister, Ashley Port, is in a vastly different situation than I am in. Ashley is single, lives by herself, and is a professional event planner. In this episode, Ashley shares her story of heartbreak and how she built herself and her incredible business back up. Thank you so much, Ash, for sharing your story!! I hope all of you who are in similar situations right now find comfort from her and her message. We chatted so much that I am going to make our chat into two parts. Stay tuned for Part 2!
