In todays podcast, Ethan continues our journey through The Sermon on the Mount as we come to Matthew 7:1-5, a passage that was apt for who Jesus was speaking to at the time, and a passage that is apt for us today as we seek to work our way through the divisions that are arising over vaccine certificates and the way our society will work over the next year. Scripture always feeds into current events!

Dr Phil Halstead, a Lecturer in Pastoral Care and Counselling at Carey Baptist College, speaks from Psalm 90 as he explores the life-giving biblical theme of being cognisant of the fragility of life.

Walking through Acts 8:26-40, Christa McKirland (a faculty member at Carey Baptist College) looks at how the Spirit is involved throughout the story of the pursuit and inclusion of the Ethiopian eunuch. In this passage, we see God’s love for the world, God’s love for the person, and how God equips us to be agents of love for the world.

Immanuel (in the Old Testament) and Emmanuel (in the New Testament) are the same people .. God with us. Holly encourages us to discover/rediscover the thrill of hope that comes with knowing that Jesus (Emmanuel) is with us, in our hearts (and not in any building), revealing himself in our world, if we have the eyes to see.

This Sunday we wrap up our Advent series, From Fear To Freedom, with Pastor Grant Harris bringing us a message on Love, preaching out of Luke 2:8-14. Grant will be looking at the response of the shepherds (that of terror!) and unpacks how their story connects to three key themes we've encountered throughout this series: action, words, and praise.
