play

12/20/22 • 28 min

Send me a text message!

Hey Green Junkie,

If you’ve been in my space for very long, you’ve heard me talk about fast fashion and the harm of traditional clothing.

Not only is traditional clothing a human rights issue, but it’s also contributing to disease and sickness from all the chemicals we are draping onto our bodies, every single day.

On today’s episode, I brought on Sarah Danu the owner of Danu Organics to help us understand what’s really hiding in our clothing, how she built Danu Organics, and what we should be watching out for when we purchase clothing.

In this episode, we will touch on the following:

  • What does clean and healthy clothing mean
  • Why it’s important to know what is going into making your clothes
  • Why recycled plastic clothing isn’t always helping the environment
  • The importance of investing in quality fabrics
  • The dangers of absorbing chemicals into your body through your clothes
  • The benefit of buying second-hand clothes to avoid chemicals
  • Benefits of stripping your clothing and how to do it

You’ve heard me talk a lot about fast fashion and its impacts on our planet and our wallets. It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of making better choices regarding our clothes.

So today, I wanted to bring on the owner of Crann Apparel, Karly Hiser, to not just discuss the importance of sustainable fashion but to dive deep into WHY this is so important.

With her nursing and healthcare background, Karly can dive into why choosing better fabrics for her highly sensitive family was crucial and what happens when we wear clothes made from non-sustainable and harmful materials.

You won’t want to miss this episode, where we discuss,

  • How was Crann Apparel inspired by morning meltdowns and skin issues? Can you relate?
  • What does sustainable fashion mean?
  • How to have the least amount of impact when you make purchases
  • The most important wardrobe piece to buy organic if you have a small budget
  • The warnings about polyester

  • How to reuse things you already have to make custom wrapping
  • How to wrap your gifts in fabrics
  • Creative ways to wrap with old books or sheet music

Wicked Ever After - Fake vs. Real- Creative Holiday Tree Ideas
play

11/30/21 • 11 min

Hey, Green Junkie!

Tell me, are you a real tree lover or do you stick with an artificial tree every year at Christmas?

This question can often spark the most interesting debates because we have so many deep rooted traditions tied up into what kind of tree we put presents under.

And I totally get that.

Part of the fun of the holiday season is the deeply rooted traditions and the fond and heartwarming memories we have attached to them.

So how do we preserve our traditions and honor them while still being more conscious in what we bring into our home?

Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered in this episode.

Here’s what to expect:

  • The truth about artificial trees
  • The carbon footprint of your current tree
  • How long you need to keep and use your artificial tree to make it more sustainable
  • How your artificial tree might be impacting your health
  • What you need to know about using real trees (hint: they’re not always sustainable either)
  • The best places to find your trees this holiday season
  • Some fun DIY options if you love crafting

You’ll discover that and so much more in this episode.

By the end of this episode, Green Junkie, you’ll have more knowledge about what tree you should choose in your home and how to make your current tree more sustainable.
