We discussed and demonstrated proper egg candling and what to look for, although not the best when you are going to use it for a podcast.... but we talk you through it. We talk about your brooder set up and options for heating sources and along the way we take questions sent in from our listeners!

Julia Bayly is a reporter who has been covering homesteads, farms, gardening and all that entails for what is seemingly her entire 61 years of life....
Fresh out of college she got a job at the local paper as a photographer and they asked her if maybe she could do a little writing with the photos she took.... well she hasn't looked back since.
Julia Bayly, Bangor Daily News Homestead Features writer and freelance travel writer/photographer. Originally from Portland Oregon and moved to Fort Kent in 1980 to attend UMaine Fort Kent. Lived there on Rusty Metal Farm until moving to Bangor in early 2020. When not covering Maine people, places and events Spent 20 years running sled dogs out of her Rusty Metal Kennel in winters and exploring the world around her on bicycle in warmer weathers. Joined the BDN Homestead desk in 2016 which gave an even greater appreciation for all those who live sustainably and raise their own food in Maine. Work life is balanced with travel in search of new adventures down the street or on the other side of the globe with her tiny dog Chiclet.
