Welsh Mysteries and Histories

Welsh Mysteries and Histories

Kay Page

While Wales is known for its beauty, choirs and love of rugby, the valleys and hillside are also home to some of Britain’s most curious cases. From missing people to unsolved murders, and the myths of Welsh folklore, there are stories to be told in every corner of the land.

Tending to be left out from the mainstream news and true crime industries, this podcast casts a sole spotlight on the murders, mysteries and histories of Wales.

In 1965, Capel Celyn - rural community to the Northwest of Bala in Gwynedd - was flooded in order to provide a water supply for Liverpool city. Despite local opposition, Liverpool council did not require Welsh approval and the proposal went ahead.
It remains a disaster that is a prominent symbol if injustice on the Welsh consciousness, and in today's episode Mags considers why.

On the 15th of February 2003, Louise and her baby daughter Tia were murdered at the hands of Louise's partner. This episode tells Louise's story and considers whether 23-years is a fair sentence.
I want to offer a word of caution before you get into the episode, because this case is horrific. It’s containing domestic abuse, drug abuse, potential SA and the murder of a woman and young baby. This episode is not appropriate for many, and if any of these topics might be triggering, I’d urge you to stop the episode now.
