Marci Marie Simmons was from a good upbringing, and had a good job. She had made a few wrong turns along the way but was doing well. After realizing the company she was working for was taking part in some not so above board accounting, Marci started doing some 'creative accounting' of her own. So, she had found a way to steal funds on a regular basis, and had become addicted to 'not getting caught'. She knew she had to stop, but couldn't. Listen to this amazing episode as we hear in detail about the day her world came crashing down. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison for in 2011 for stealing a total of $367k. Although a lot, the punishment did not ,match the crime, and she was made an example of, even spending time in solitary confinement. She was released on parole in March 2021. Never a violent offender in or out of custody, she is now on a mission to help other female inmates who often suffer the same fate in the USA's corrupt and failed justice system. Wow. What an episode.

When Monique Gibson first entered her twenties, she had big plans, adventures to go on, things to do, careers to build. The world had a very different plan. It all started very slowly, a weird symptom here and there, dizzy spells, exhaustion, belly aches. Over a course of 6 months, her body started to deteriorate so quickly she was concerned it was a degenerative condition like MS or MND, she even wondered if she might actually be dying. Things worsened and her symptoms included: muscle paralysis, muscle spasms, body freezes, extreme fatigue, muscle weakness, speech difficulties, severe fragrance and chemical sensitivity, severe digestive issues, blackouts/fainting spells She couldn't work for 12 months, couldn't eat, was losing weight, and her muscles were spasming 24/7. All the doctors would tell her it was stress, and there was nothing they could do for me. That I just was not trying hard enough to get better. This was a very lonely journey, in many ways it was heartbreaking. Join us to find out how Monique began her journey of recovery, and actual diagnosis, and the discovery of some major locked away trauma!!

Judy van Niekerk, was just six when her father began abusing her, keeping her imprisoned in the family home. Judy cooked and cleaned for her father after her mother left the family when she was just six. For years he subjected her to physical and sexual abuse, breaking her bones and even shooting her in the chest, and even forced her to undergo home abortions. Finally the survivor, who now teaches others to overcome difficulty, escaped and fled to London and then South Africa where meeting her husband gave her the strength to bring her father to justice. In this extraordinary and jaw-dropping episode, Judy talks about her 'white light' moment as a teen in captivity, when she knew she would one day be free and make something amazing of her life. She uses her traumatic and heart-wrenching years in captivity as an experience to help others find the strength from within. Judy's take on life, who we are, and what we are capable of, is truly compelling and inspiring. This really is a can't miss episode. Judy, we admire your strength, courage, and thank you for coming on our show!

Jennifer Soames was involved in a horse riding accident 10 years ago, and we welcome her to the show as she recounts the accident itself, and explains how that was just the very beginning of her long and continuing journey of recovery. Every brain injury (including stroke) is different and unique, and yet the experience of trauma and moving forward from it is one to which most people connect. Jennifer discusses the pain and frustration, loneliness, and the growth that comes with this journey. Developing PTSD, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, dysautonomia and more has affected her in every aspect of my life, yet also taught her the most valuable lessons in processing grief, setting and respecting boundaries, being proactive, acceptance, and resilience. No matter what circumstances. Amazing!!
