S2 EP20: Sam's Story - Learning To Embrace My Neurodiversity
Well, That F*cked Me Up! Surviving Life Changing Events.05/19/22 • 48 min
In this weeks EXPERT Edition - Sam Led was born with a neurodiverse brain (see below for definition). In other words he was born with a brain that just works differently. After being diagnosed with ADHD, OCD, GAD by well meaning mental health professionals, he thought he needed fixing. As a child he was placed in a 'Slow Learner' classroom that even had a sign on the door! He spent decades suffering around how incompetent he felt because his mind worked differently. He also suffered from panic attacks and anxiety that disrupted so many areas of his life. Sam discusses his troubled childhood, and life growing up, until the day he was introduced to a revolutionary new understanding of how the mind works. Suddenly his life opened up in magical ways. He learned how to thrive with anxiety, OCD, and ADHD. I learned that he did not have to be afraid of his experience, rather embrace it!
Note: Neurodiversity refers to neurological conditions with variations in the human genome. ADHD, Autism, Dyspraxia, and Dyslexia all fall within the spectrum of “Neurodiversity” and are all neurodiverse conditions.
