In this episode, we welcome journalist and Philanthropic historian Benjamin Soskis as our first ever guest.

On October 26, 2021, Benjamin published an article in The Chronical of Philanthropy called: A Legacy of Sackler: Let’s reconsider Philanthropic Naming Rights. And we were so grateful to unpack the article with him.

Benjamin is a senior research associate in Urban Institute’s Center on Non-profits and Philanthropy and the co-editor of HistPhil, a web publication dedicated to the history of philanthropy, non-profits and civil society. A frequent contributor to the Chronicle of Philanthropy, his work has also appeared in the Washington Post, the Atlantic, the Guardian, and the Wall Street Journal, among other publications.

He is the author, most recently, of "A History of Associational Life and the non-profit sector in the United States," in The Non-profit Sector: A Research Handbook, 3rd ed. (Stanford, 2020); and, with John Staffuer, of The Battle Hymn of the Republic: A Biography of the Song that Marches On (Oxford University Press, 2013). He received his PhD in American history from Columbia University in 2010.

The cool thing about this podcast is recorded with a live audience and an expert group of panelists on Clubhouse.

Our panelists include Teddy Schleifer, Founding Partner and Puck Media, Rachel Hutchison, Vice president Global Social Responsibility at Blackbaud, Regine Benchetrit, Business Development, Nonprofit Strategy at Traction on Demand, Al Cantor, Principal at Alan Cantor Consulting Limited. We were positively thrilled to be able to launch this project with such high calibre talent.

Thank you so much for joining us for this conversation. We do hope you found it worthwhile. And we would love to know what you think. Please remember to subscribe, follow and even participate live on Clubhouse.

We welcome you into the conversation. Because we can all do better at doing good.
