Who knew we'd all be so pleased to be getting a six-week break from West Ham after the last two years.

Defeats to Blackburn and Leicester over the last week have ensured we head into the World Cup break in terrible form and in serious danger of being sucked into to a relegation battle when we return to face Arsenal away on Boxing Day.

The performance against Leicester wasn't atrocious by any means but we still failed to score any goals, which is the whole point of football isn't it?

It's been our problem all season - not being able to convert chances - and it's beginning to cost us heavily.

This week, James and Will discuss those two defeats as well as look ahead to the World Cup before taking a mini-break of their own.

The next episode is likely going to be in a few weeks but we'll back up and running properly in time for Boxing Day!

It's been a long while since we've been able to actually talk about football being played, but this week we're finally able to preview our Premier League meeting with Wolves this coming weekend.
Three months have passed since we could talk about what's going on on the pitch, so James Jones, Will Pugh and Tom Edwards took full advantage by planning an action-packed show to celebrate!
This week, the boys were joined by London Stadium DJ and face of the fantastic YouTube channel My Hammers XI, Russ Budden, who discussed his story behind launching one of the most popular pieces of West Ham content on the web right now, and also what he thinks might happen when Wolves visit East London on Saturday.
And then the boys were joined by Sam from the Wolves 77 Podcast, who didn't hold back in reminding us that Wolves are very much on a journey that we all wish West Ham was on.
And then there's the West Ham Mystery Players quiz, where James and Tom go head-to-head in a friendly competition - this week it's James' turn to embarrass himself!
Please like rate and subscribe if you like the pod and don't forget to vote for the guys in the final of the Football Content Awards in the Best Podcast category - details on how to do that are over on our Twitter page!

Boris Johnson gave football the go ahead to resume behind closed doors after June 1 and while some players are still hesitant, it looks like we'll be seeing West Ham back on our screens sooner rather than later.
Mark Noble also hinted in the week he would like to take up a director of football role at West Ham after he retires as he doesn't know if he could be manager after seeing what it done to Slaven Bilic.
Will Pugh, James Jones and Charlie Hawkins return to discuss all of that, and the success of the We Are West Ham 'Refer-A-Friend' scheme sees Hammers icon Tony Gale join the lads for more than half of the podcast thanks to Tony Cottee's recommendation last week.
Gale has a close relationship with Declan Rice so the lads press him on his next steps as well as David Moyes and the current state of the club.
Tony fielded questions from listeners before leaving the boys to get on with the PENULTIMATE rogue players quiz of the season.
With the scores tied at 14-14 it really is all to play for heading into the final week.
SUBSCRIBE, like rate and review if you like what we do and we hope you are staying safe.

We're back. Football's back. Normal life is (kind of) back.
There's still a long way to go before we can really say normal life is back, but the recent easing of lockdown restrictions gave given us all a bit of hope that there is light at the end of the lockdown tunnel.
And after a week's break, we're back to bring you all the latest West Ham talking points. This time as very proud award nominees. Yep, that's right, we've been nominated for Best Podcast at the Football Content Awards and we couldn't be prouder. Thank you to everyone who listens to our ramblings each week and helps support the show - it really does mean a lot. We've left details on how you can vote for us below and on our Twitter page.
But amidst the euphoria of an award nomination comes some very sad news. The amazing Charlie Hawkins has decided to move on to pastures new and will no longer be a part of the We Are West Ham movement. Charlie has been an integral part of the success of this podcast up to now and we would like to thank him for all his hard work and dedication. He joined as our presenter and leaves as our friend.
Replacing Charlie on a permanent basis is Tom Edwards, who has been involved in the show sporadically over the years but has accepted our offer to join full time. A very worthy addition to the team, indeed. Welcome, Tom!
So on this week's show, the lads say farewell to Charlie, welcome (back) Tom and then run the rule on all the big West Ham related headlines. From the return of football to season ticket refunds to imposing a Jack Wilshere censorship on the podcast to the potential of renewed fan protests, the lads touched on everything as we begin to countdown to our match with Wolves in a few weeks' time.
As always, thank you to everyone who listens every week and if you haven't already, please make sure you subscribe, rate and review us on whatever podcast platform you're listening on. We really do appreciate the support.
If you would like to vote for us in the Football Content Awards, you can do so by clicking here and selecting WE ARE WEST HAM PODCAST from the drop-down menu under the Best Podcast category, and you can also tweet the following sentence...
"I am voting for @WeAre_WestHam in @The_FCAs for #BestPodcast"
We really do appreciate your help and continued support!

Will Pugh, James Jones and Charlie Hawkins are having a well earned rest this week.
Unfortunately, the full length episode of the Rogue Mystery Players quiz the lads were hoping to put out this week is proving quite the technical challenge so it is going to have to wait a few more weeks unfortunately.
However, if you haven't already, this week would be a great time to go back to episodes 66 and 68 which is the two part Nostalgia Series special Will and quizmaster Reece recorded last summer all about the last season at Upton Park.
The lads hope everyone is keeping safe and well, get in touch in all the usual places and please review, rate and SUBSCRIBE if you like what we are doing.

It was announced this week that players had been given the green light to return to training, albeit without any contact and social distancing measures still very much in place.
However, there are several players who remain unhappy that football is even attempting to restart while the pandemic continues and some have even refused to return to training. With the Bundesliga getting back to business last weekend, can the Premier League follow suit safely and without any major issues within the coming weeks?
The lads spoke about all of that and some of the other big talking points coming out of the club this week, including an in-depth chat about some very interesting manager rumours doing the rounds in Italy as David Sullivan is reportedly keeping a close eye on a potential David Moyes replacement.
But arguably the most important section of this week's episode is the finale of the Rogue Mystery West Ham Players Quiz, with James and Will both going into the 29th and final round all square. It's all set up to be a tense ending - who will walk away with the prize? Who will be forced to buy the other a load of beers? Who will prove they have a better knowledge of random West Ham players from years gone by? It's all decided in this week's episode!
The lads are now going to take a well-earned break but will be back again in just two weeks with a brand new show and hopefully a brand new weekly feature to replace the quiz.
As always, thank you to everyone who listens every week and if you haven't already, please make sure you subscribe, rate and review us on whatever podcast platform you're listening on. We really do appreciate the support.
You can also email us at wearewesthampod@gmail.com and tweet us at @WeAre_WestHam. We love to hear from you, so get in touch!
See you all again in a couple of weeks.

Jeremy Ngakia looks set to leave West Ham after David Moyes expressed disappointment at his decision to walk away from negotiations.
The 19-year-old is reportedly after £20k-a-week while the Hammers are only offering £5k plus bonuses and the stalemate means he will depart the London Stadium on June 30.
Will Pugh, Tom Edwards and James Jones have different opinions on the matter but are united in their joy at the news Tomas Soucek has extended his deal until the end of the season and seems keen to stay long term if West Ham stay up.
The lads worry about what a big IF that really is as the battle against relegation gets going again in less than two weeks.
The Rogue Mystery Players quiz is back by popular demand and the boys get into the pros and cons of a Premier League salary cap.
Please like rate and subscribe if you like the pod and don't forget to vote for the guys in the final of the Football Content Awards in the Best Podcast category.

We're still no closer to being reunited with the beautiful game but that hasn't stopped us from having plenty to talk about in its absence.
The latest is that West Ham are among six Premier League clubs who are against the Premier League's proposals to play the remainder of the season behind closed doors and at neutral venues, which is quite understandable given what's at stake in the battle to stay in the top-flight.
That forms the bulk of the conversation this week, while we also spent much of the episode discussing some of the biggest talking points from our exclusive feature-length interview with club legend Tony Cottee, who very kindly spent almost two hours chatting all things West Ham with James Jones and Will Pugh earlier this week.
If you haven't already done so, make sure you go back and listen to that bonus episode where Cottee talks to the boys in-depth about the board, Declan Rice, his Hammers career and, of course, some of his best memories of that 1985/86 season.
And finally, as always, we end the show with the West Ham Mystery Players Quiz, where it's getting very tense heading into the final few weeks of the season. Can Will level the scores and put even more pressure on James? You'll have to listen to find out.

With 146 goals for West Ham over two spells at the club, Tony Cottee is undoubtedly one of the Hammers' greatest ever strikers.
A club icon who continues to fly the claret and blue flag in his media work as a well known and well liked Sky Sports News pundit.
A hero of the Boys of '86 season, who eventually left for Everton in the pursuit of trophies before a return to Upton Park years later where he carried on banging in the goals.
Cottee joins Will Pugh and James Jones to chat all things West Ham from his time at the club, the gut wrenching departures, his recent brain hemorrhage, David Moyes, Declan Rice, the board and much more beyond.
Tony also answers questions from the We Are West Ham listeners who can get in touch at wearewesthampod@gmail.com.

West Ham have lost 2-0 twice in a row since the last podcast.
Wolves made light work of the Hammers at the London Stadium before VAR set Spurs on their way to their win thanks to a Tomas Soucek own goal and a Harry Kane strike when West Ham were ‘pushing for the equaliser’.
Will Pugh is joined by Tom Edwards and James Jones straight after the Tottenham game to record the podcast and try and see some light among the darkness.
Ryan Fredericks seemed to strengthen Jeremy Ngakia’s negotiating position as it looks like the young right-back is on his way out on June 30.
The lads argue about which of the pair was least bad in the two games since the Premier League restarted and also question David Moyes’ seemingly unimaginative approach.
Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen provided the only real positive talking points in North London but West Ham’s survival prospects are looking slimmer and slimmer as each week goes by.
The guys are joined by Tottenham fan and sports journalist from the Mirror Alex Milne to discuss the game and both teams’ chances of achieving their end of season goals.
And of course, the Rogue Mystery Players Quiz is back.
