Whether you’re a Gen Z screenager, a morbid Millennial, or an emotionally unavailable Gen X-er, there’s one thing we can all agree on... we are NOT prepared for this life thing. And, it’s starting to look like nobody’s coming to the rescue. As an educator trauma bonded to social media and lifelong human, Lauran Woolley (@mrs.woolleyin5th) has learned one essential truth above all else – history repeats itself. Each week, join Lauran and Jordan Woolley as they are thrown into the deep end of some truly heinous games all in the pursuit of self-improvement for the future. From reenacting pivotal moments in history (see: surviving the Civil War as a circus clown) to solving a SAW-style escape room through crafting the perfect text for cancelling dinner plans - their pain is your gain. As we journey together towards preparedness, should at any point you start to feel nervous about mastering these critical life skills, just keep repeating this mantra: WE ARE FINE!

We Are Fine - Escape Womb: Getting Our Security Deposit Back
play

03/12/25 • 39 min

In Episode 15 we unveil a brand new podcast format that blends personal chaos with a historical twist. We introduce Past to the Future, a game where we rewrite real historical events—with unhinged results. This week, we take on Voyager 1’s 1979 flyby of Jupiter, but things go off the rails when Jordan plays the role of a sentient space probe and decides to dive straight into Io’s volcanoes.

In Episode 16 we share the other new game we talked about last week. It may be our most ridiculous challenge yet—Escape Womb, an adulting-themed escape room game that proves none of us really know how to be adults. Our mission? Get our security deposit back from the evil Landlord Specter.

Takeaways:

Adulting is a Scam – Lauran and Jordan learn just how hard it is to get a security deposit back when landlords find every excuse possible to keep your money.

The Landlord Specter is Out for Blood – A ghostly landlord, a floating checklist, and mysterious fees turn this apartment into an adulting horror story.

A Smoke Detector with Trust Issues – Lauran convinces a paranoid smoke detector that she’s not working for the landlord (after watching a VHS tape full of dirty secrets).

A Gremlin is Charging Late Fees? – Jordan and Lauran must outwit a tiny gremlin in a landlord suit before he adds more fees to their bill.

Ghostbusting Saves the Day – Lauran digs up her old Ghostbusters Halloween costume and takes down the landlord ghost in one epic final showdown.
