Warrior Tribe Podcast
10/12/23 • 123 min
Could cannabis be the unexpected hero in pain management and insomnia relief? This week, we navigate the gritty, sometimes baffling world of chronic pain and insomnia with David Sharp, the author of Cannabis Lullaby. A personal journey that put him through the wringer of misdiagnoses and ineffective treatments, we learn how David found solace in turning to natural plant medicines in the form of medical cannabis. Hear how David's resilience and unwavering determination ultimately led him to discover an alternative path to healing and wellness.
What does it take to treat chronic pain holistically? It's no secret that the US healthcare system leaves much to be desired when it comes to treating chronic pain. Our conversation with David is an exploration into the need for patients to play an active role in their healing, the importance of patient accountability, and the shortcomings of conventional medicine. David's story is a testament to the significance of addressing the root cause of physical symptoms, in his case, an unprocessed childhood trauma. In this interview, David shares his holistic approach to recovery, where he utilized paradoxical relaxation meditation, trigger point therapy, and cannabis to regain his health.
But, how effective is cannabis in managing pain and promoting sleep? David's initial skepticism, his surprise at the effectiveness of cannabis, and the bureaucratic roadblocks he faced to access it will make you rethink what you thought you knew about cannabis. We'll also explore the pitfalls and potential of cannabis research, the ongoing debate around cannabis in healthcare, and the need for patient insights. We spotlight the importance of choosing the right strain and consumption method, the potential side effects, and the specific types of patients who should tread with caution. Join us in this enlightening journey as we debunk misconceptions and shed light on the potential benefits of cannabis for chronic pain and insomnia.

Warrior Tribe Podcast | Ep.7 w/ Adrienne Jezick: Cold Plunging Her Way to Better Health
Warrior Tribe Podcast
11/07/23 • 120 min
Welcome to the Warrior Tribe Podcast. This week, our host Gary Hess is joined by Adrienne Jezick, co-founder of Morozko Forge and creator of The Morozko Method. Join us as they explore the intricate dance between psychological trauma and physiological response, and how the cold plunge can help your body control the fight or flight stress response in a controlled environment.
In This Episode:
Adrienne opens up about her personal battle with past trauma and how it induced a persistent fight-or-flight response, leading to a disconnection between her mind and body. This internal struggle resulted in an amplified sensitivity to ordinary sensations—turning foods, smells and emotions into adversaries. We dissect how this misunderstood response often sends individuals on a quest for medical diagnoses, searching for clarity and a solution within a system that may lead to temporary relief but potentially overlooks the root cause. Adrienne shares her odyssey through the healthcare system, the momentary solace in diagnosis, and the complex layers of treatment that sometimes cloud the underlying issues. She highlights how true healing often demands more than medication—it requires an introspective journey through past trauma and an active reprogramming of the stress response.
Transitioning to the healing powers of The Morozko Method, Adrienne explains on how deliberate cold exposure, through the cold plunge, serves as a catalyst for change. This method is not merely about enduring the cold but using it as a therapeutic tool to regain command over the primal fight-or-flight responses. It's a form of therapy that offers a controlled environment to re-engage with and ultimately master one's physiological reactions.
The birth of Morozko Forge came from necessity and innovation. Adrienne, a staunch advocate of the benefits of cold plunging, faced a recurring challenge: the impracticality and expense of procuring 200 pounds of ice for each ice bath session. To address this, her then-husband began tinkering with refrigerator parts, aiming to devise a more sustainable and efficient solution. Through trial, error, and a spark of ingenuity, they developed a prototype that bypassed the need for continual ice purchase. This prototype was not just a makeshift fix but the seedling of what would grow into Morozko Forge. With time, the design was refined, the technology advanced, and what started in a domestic setting evolved into a high-end brand synonymous with premium ice baths and cold plunges. Morozko Forge now stands as a testament to the power of personal healing turning into a venture that provides accessibility and ease to cold therapy enthusiasts.
