In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over the 7-day mental diet to achieve your potential.
The 7-Day Mental Diet
The 7-Day Mental Diet (by Emmet Fox) is a self-improvement concept aimed at cultivating a more positive and constructive mindset. Here are five key points:
- Conscious Thought Selection: Over seven consecutive days, individuals deliberately choose their thoughts. This involves being vigilant about the nature of thoughts arising and consciously redirecting negative or counterproductive ones into positive and empowering ones. The emphasis is on mindfulness and awareness of one’s mental patterns.
- Letting Go of Negative Thoughts: During this period, individuals commit to releasing negative thoughts and not holding onto them. This helps break the cycle of dwelling on pessimism and self-doubt, enabling a shift towards a more optimistic outlook.
- Mindset Transformation: The 7-Day Mental Diet encourages a fundamental transformation of one’s mindset. By consistently practicing positive thinking, individuals aim to rewire their thought patterns and develop a habit of focusing on the bright side of situations.

- Affirmations and Positivity: Affirmations play a significant role in the mental diet. Participants engage in positive self-talk and affirmations throughout the day. This aids in reinforcing positive beliefs and counteracting the effects of negative self-talk.
- Daily Commitment: The diet requires a daily commitment for seven consecutive days. It’s essential to remain dedicated to the practice, even when facing challenges. Consistency is key to experiencing the benefits of this mental detox.
The 7-Day Mental Diet is a transformative practice involving conscious thought selection, letting go of negativity, mindset shift, positive affirmations, and daily commitment. By actively participating in this mental detox, individuals aim to create a more optimistic and constructive mindset, ultimately leading to improved mental well-being and a more positive approach to life’s challenges.
It’s important to note that while the practice may originate from Emmet Fox’s book “The 7 Day Mental Diet,” variations and interpretations of the concept can be found across various platforms, with the overarching goal of fostering positivity and personal growth.

Over 10 years and going strong! With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.
In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go discuss The Secret to Finding Yourself for personal growth and peak performance.
The Secret to Finding Yourself
Trying to find yourself has gotten a mixed reputation. It can be a convenient excuse when you want to break up with someone without mentioning the real reasons. It can also be a diversion from accepting responsibilities, like doing your share of household chores or getting a job.
On the other hand, figuring out who you are and what you need to do in order to have a fulfilling life could be the most important and satisfying questions you’ll ever answer.
If you’re sincere about self-discovery, try these suggestions to guide you in your search.
- Clarify your values. Knowing your values helps you to make sound decisions and prioritize your activities. Consider how your values relate to your daily life. Look for opportunities to live in agreement with them. Summarize your philosophy into a personal values statement you can refer to when needed.

- Understand your strengths. Do you know where your talents lie and what you feel passionate about? You’ll accomplish greater things with less stress when you choose a path that lets you leverage your main assets.
- Build support. Finding yourself is tough work. You’ll need a sturdy network of family, friends, and colleagues you can rely on for advice and support. Being generous about sharing your resources with others increases the likelihood that they’ll want to do the same for you.
- Create flow states. What activities boost your energy levels and make you lose track of time? Whether you love playing the piano or solving physics equations, chances are these flow states will suggest the fields in which you can excel.
- Set goals. Having a destination in mind guides your steps and keeps you on track. Where do you want to be in 5 or 10 years?
- Listen to yourself. Finding yourself is about living authentically. Pay attention to what your mind and body are telling you. Notice when you feel engaged and when you feel lost. Is there a pattern behind these situations?
- Accept your feelings. Acknowledge your emotions, even when they cause you discomfort. Trying to suppress the truth will backfire and produce more stress. When you accept your anger or sorrow, you can start thinking about positive options for dealing with it.
- Ask your friends. While you’re cultivating self-knowledge, you may benefit from listening to how others view you. Their feedback may point out qualities and habits that you ove...

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over Walk Your Talk – Practicing the Principles You Preach, for personal success.
Walk Your Talk – Practicing the Principles You Preach
How often have you run into a leader who’s been successful at guiding others by saying one thing and then doing something different? Not very often, right? That’s simply because it doesn’t work!
It’s highly likely that principles taught without the right examples being put into practice will eventually fall by the wayside.
Especially if you’re in a position of authority, it is of utmost importance to lead by example if you expect to gain compliance.
Leading by example will ensure these benefits:
- Support of the principles based on results. For example, if you’re teaching honesty, when people see for themselves that you gain the trust of others by being honest, they will likely see the benefits of being honest themselves.
- Full understanding of the principles. Just imparting principles to others isn’t always enough. In fact, the majority of people may have a completely different understanding of what’s expected of them.
- Cohesion and cooperation. This is particularly true whenever team effort is required. When everybody is on the same page, processes, departments and families run more cohesively.
- Respect. When others can see that you are fully complying with the principles you teach, you’ll ultimately gain their respect.

Disastrous Results of Not Practicing What You Preach
So what happens when you try to teach certain life principles but allow your actions to dictate otherwise?
You’re bound to run into any or all of the following situations:
- Those you expect compliance from will very soon grow to resent you, especially if the principles you’re teaching are a challenge for them to perform.
- You may end up with a negative reputation as an ineffective leader or teacher as you lose sight of the very actions you teach.
- Cases of rebellion will continue to grow as more and more people feel they’re being dictated to instead of led.
How to Start Leading By Example
It’s very easy to outline your expectations; it’s the simplest part of the equation. And that’s a start, because at least you know what the principles are. As they say, “Knowing is half the battle” but in this case, it’s the smaller half!
It may take a lot of effort to really walk the talk and practice the behaviors that you want others to emulate. However, yo...

How to Find Your True Self – Warrior Mind Podcast #579
Warrior Mind Podcast
04/01/22 • 18 min
Over 10 years and going strong! With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.
In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to be reviewing a few steps you can take to find your true self to develop self-mastery.
Find Your True Self
Your true self is the part of you that is constant. It transcends your body, emotions, and experiences. It is the essence of you.
How would you describe yourself? You might declare that you are Susan, wife of Bob, a pharmaceutical sales rep, and have Scottish ancestry.
However, if you had been named Beth, married a guy named Steve, worked as a nurse and had Irish ancestors, you would still be the same person you are now. Your life and experiences might be different, but you would still be fundamentally the same person.
There’s something about you that’s constant, though it’s hard to describe exactly what that is.
Who are you?
One thing is for certain: when you’re living a life that aligns with your true self, you’re going to be happy. If you’re not living a life that resonates with your true self, you’ll feel like something is lacking. It doesn’t matter how much success, fortune, and fame you achieve if your true self isn’t honored.

More on how to find your true self
Try these ideas to discover your true self and reveal your path in life:
- What is your level of introversion / extroversion? Do you feel more energized and comfortable when alone or with others? When are you at your best?
- If you’re naturally introverted, a job that requires interacting with people all day long is going to create a lot of stress and anxiety.
- Spending time alone in a cubicle working on a computer might drive you crazy if you’re extroverted.
- What did you like as a child that you still like today? It might be baseball, Scooby-Doo cartoons, pizza, and afternoon naps. Dig deeper than that. You might find that you’ve always craved adventure, creativity, and helping others. Think about the characteristics and qualities in your life that have been constant.
- If you could accomplish anything, what do you think would be your greatest accomplishment? Is it earning a billion dollars or winning a Nobel Peace Prize? Maybe it’s writing a best-selling book or adopting a disadvantaged child. What do you think is the greatest accomplishment a person can have?
- What do you consider to be the most important lessons you could teach a child? What do you wish you had known when you were 10-20 years of age? What could you have known that would have made your life more meaningful?
- What would you do with great wealth? After you bought a mansion and a fancy car, what would you do with your life? What would you do with your free time and extensive financial resources?
- Who are your heroes? Albert Einstein? John D. Rockefeller? Mother Teresa? Whom do you look up to? Why? Whose life would you most like to emulate? Whom would you be most proud to ...
