This podcast will help you declutter the piles of stuff, organize the things you want to keep, and learn to let go of the rest with positive mindsets and encouragement. As a busy mom who's been there, done that, I share stories of the crazy - like selling 80% of what we owned to travel with our toddler to the mundane - like having to run a home now that our kiddo's in school. Living with less is not about deprivation - just the opposite! Decluttering can open you up for a life of freedom you never knew was possible. And you won’t hear it just from me - there are amazing guests too! It’s practical, doable, and simple for those of us that wannabe clutter free.

Have you been struggling to embrace minimalism or simple living because you’re waiting for your “ah-ha moment”? You know, like the ones you have read on countless blogs about how this great epiphany just hit one day? Or a moment when you just could’t take it anymore?

Well, today’s guest will help you realize that you don’t need to wait for a big life change or a crisis to start your journey to a more intentional life. It’s easy to start living more like a minimalist and you can do it today.

You can start by giving everything you own a home.

That’s exactly what Jenna did. And she knows her stuff. As a mom who always thought she lived tiny (and compared to many of us she does), she realized that her home was still messy because as a self-proclaimed “messy person” she struggled with putting things away.

Giving everything she owns a home changed the way Jenna viewed her stuff, let her declutter things that no longer had a place to go, and enables her, her husband, and 3 kids to live comfortably in about 800 square feet.

Jenna Arvidson gives moms permission to live differently. She teaches how to simplify your home and your day so you have time and space for what matters most.

This episode of the Wannabe Minimalist Show will help you discover:

  • what it means to give your items a home
  • why it’s incredibly important to give everything you own a home
  • how to give your items a place to live
  • a new outlook for starting and ending your days that have made a huge impact
  • the best minimalism advice Jenna ever received

Have you ever wanted to up level or personalize the way your home feels, but didn't know where to start? Well, my friend, you are in luck.

This may sound strange coming from someone who classifies themselves as a wannabe minimalist, but I believe minimalism is about giving yourself the freedom and ability to say no to the things that you don't like or that don't matter to you, so that you can fully embrace the things that do work for you (and the people you share your life with). That is true in all of the areas in your life from what you wear to the hobbies you choose, and of course in how you style your home.

My guest knows a thing or two about creating a unique space. She did this for herself and her family when she found herself living in suburbia after a cross-country move, instead of in the 100-year-old farmhouse she had been dreaming of.

Marian Parson is a wife, mother of two boys, paint enthusiast, lover of all things home and author of *Feels Like Home*. She started Mustard Seed Interiors in 2008, as a way to earn extra money for groceries. What started out as a one-woman decorative painting and mural business evolved into an antiques business that tripped into a blog and blossomed into a successful international brand. While the focus has been on the home, the heart of her blog and business has always been providing encouragement and inspiration to women in the areas of decorating, homemaking, and creative endeavors.

Our discussions starts with looking at how Marian's journey started and why our relationships with our homes are so important. Then we dive into an area I was selfishly looking forward to and that's how to style your home to make people say, wow, you did this?

This episode of the Wannabe Minimalist Show will also help you discover:

  • Why it's important to create a space that is a reflection of who lives there
  • 5 steps to take your space from nice to wow!
  • A simple exercise to get to know your unique style
  • What you can do to get your family interested in redecorating your space
  • The #1 thing you can start today that will help you be able to create the home you love

Is your child’s room messy and out of control? Do you wish your kid’s room could be organized and tidy?

You’re not alone! I get asked all the time about how to declutter and organize kid’s stuff. It seems like the smallest among us have the most stuff or at least it’s the most in your face (and everywhere in your home).

No matter if you have one child or five, the fact is kids typically come with a lot of stuff. It is so easy to accumulate toys, little clothes, books, games. Kids grow fast and each stage comes with new belongings.

If your children have never been given boundaries around their stuff, it’s going to be really difficult to go from a whole house stuffed to the rafters with toys, gadgets, gizmos, and squishies to those sparse instagram images you covet.

The good news is, you can get there, it’s just not happening overnight and that's okay. This episode of the Wannabe Minimalist Show lays out the 7 things you can do to corral the toys and mountains of kids things and set up systems so your kiddos can help you keep it up.

This episode of the Wannabe Minimalist Show will also help you discover:

  • Why tiny humans come with so much stuff
  • Why starting with a plan is so important and how to make it work for your space
  • How to approach decluttering with your kids interests in mind
  • The #1 secret to creating a toy rotation and why it works
  • How to set boundaries so your kids stuff stays in it’s place
