Impacting Diversity Through Leadership with Dr. Roberta Gebhard, Special Episode #005
Voices Unheard02/23/21 • 16 min
Roberta Gebhard, DO is the Immediate Past President of AMWA, a Family Practice physician, mother of four adult children, founder of AMWA Gender Equity Task Force, and member of the American Medical Association (AMA) Women Physicians Section (WPS) Governing Council representing 80,000 women physician’s in the US. In this engaging special episode, we discuss leadership in medicine and how physician's are leaders based on their position though few are equipped for this role. Dr. Gebhard had the fortunate experience of learning leadership skills from previous AMWA presidents who modeled respect for others and collaboration. During her three year AMWA presidential term, she gained hands on experiences with her preferred approach of servant leadership and respect for those she leads. She models Brené Brown's definition of a leader as one "who takes responsibility for finding the potential in people and processes and how has the courage to develop that potential."
