65 :: Brittany Zamora :: Taking Advantage of a Teacher Student Power Imbalance
We talk a lot about power imbalance and how it can affect a relationship. It’s when two people are associated with each other, but one of them has a lot more control and power over the dynamic than the other person. This can be a celebrity and a fan, a law enforcement officer and a citizen, an adult and a child, or even a teacher and a student. The story we’re going to discuss today shows us how dangerous the power imbalance between teacher and student can be, if the teacher has bad intentions.

67 :: Alissa Turney Part 1 :: A Girl Goes Missing
It was May 17th, 2001 in Phoenix, Arizona. Michael Turney, a single father called 911 and reported his step daughter, 17 year old Alissa Turney, missing. He told police that she disappeared between the time he dropped her off at home, and picked up his biological daughter, Sarah from a friend’s house. He continued to tell police where he suspected she’d gone. Alissa had talked frequently about going to live with her Aunt in California, and Michael felt she had finally done it. The department, already having many missing people reported, assumed that she was a runaway and would turn up soon. But Alissa’s disappearance would end up becoming much more complicated.
