The Funeral march of a marionetts by Gounod in a transcription is part of the plan having been nominated for a Grammy Award. Jan Kraybill will utilize the special features of the instrument as she explains. She also tells us about riding her Harley Davidson, her passion for antiqueing, the arts scene in Kansas City, and the Audiorium Organ.

Swan Lake wraps up the season for Pittsburgh Ballet Theater with  eight performances at the Benedum with orchestra.  Debuting in this new production is original choreography from Artistic Director Susan Jaffe, a seasoned and celebrated Swan Queen herself. Ms. Jaffe first danced the role of Odette-Odile for American Ballet Theatre at the age of 19 and gave a performance that The New York Times called, “a beautiful triumph.” She danced the role every year of her 22-year illustrious career, including international performances.

As Assistant  Conductor, Ryan Keeling prepared the Mendelssohn Choir for the Beethoven Ninth Symphony with Manfred Honeck in their most recent performances bringing to a grand conclusion the Pittsburgh Symphony Beethoven in Your Neighborhood project of presenting all nine Beethoven Symphonies in various venues in a single week. The sold out concert at Heinz Hall and the repeat performance at St Vincent’s Basilica in Latrobe followed in the path of the Grammy nominated Reference recording. Ryan tells Jim Cunningham about keeping the Honeck ideas in place and the special nature of his Viennese style Beethoven. Ryan Keeling also discussed upcoming Mendelssohn concerts and the work he does in Mount Lebanon at church and  with his Voces Solis ensemble. The Beethoven Ninth will be broadcast June 2 at 7pm on WQED-FM.
