Virtual Six-Figure Mom Podcast - MomFriends, it's time to talk professional development!
play

12/06/22 • 19 min

If you feel like you're struggling to find success or happiness in your life, then this episode is for you! In this episode you will learn:
1. Tips for professional development for moms
2. How you can network your way into your desired role
3. Filling in the gaps of your qualifications
"When you don't know what you want to do, but there are things you enjoy when you're thinking about pivoting and trying something new, figure out exactly what you want to do and why."
I'm always talking to my MomFriends about professional development. It seems like lately, more and more of us are thinking about making a change in our careers. We want to do something new, but we're not sure if we're qualified or where to start. I've made a few career pivots in my own life, so I have some thoughts on the subject.
First, it's important to figure out what you want to do and why you want to do it. What are you passionate about? What do you enjoy doing? What do people usually ask you for help with?
Once you know what you want to do, research the necessary qualifications for your ideal role. Google the role you're interested in and look at job descriptions to see what skills and experience are required.
Then, begin to fill in the gaps with additional education and experience and start networking and fostering relationships that will prove to be mutually beneficial in your pivot.

Virtual Six-Figure Mom Podcast - The Importance of Quality Sleep for Working Moms with Karese Laguerre
play

02/07/23 • 36 min

In today's episode of the Virtual Sixfigure Mom Podcast, Karese Laguerre dives into the importance of sleep and how it impacts the household overall.
"I like to say that as a mom, I feel like we all kind of give the highlight reel when somebody asks, how is everything? How is a little Timmy? Or whatever. And I did that too. For a long time. I was saying everything's good. This one's in soccer or that one's doing a dance recital or whatever. But really I had a whole lot of things going on in my home that I wasn't talking about because there's some internal shame with that I think we all bear as parents. "
Here's what Karese Laguerre and I cover:
1. The importance of sleep for overall health and well-being
2. The impact of sleep on brain function and development
3. The importance of good sleep hygiene practices
Karese Laguerre is a registered dental hygienist and myofunctional therapist at The Myo Spot. She transitioned to myofunctional therapy after realizing that many of her children's health issues were stemming from the same thing: how they were breathing and using their oral facial muscles. Karese is passionate about helping others transform their sleep and improve their overall health.
Quotes:
"When we talk about over the counter, we're talking about melatonin a lot, whole lot of things that we could say about melatonin. First of all, these over the counter supplements, we never know 100% what's in them."
"The first step is really to start with your sleep, optimize your sleep, really get that going well, you'll find yourself more productive and you'll really find yourself able to achieve significantly more."

Get your mom energy back with Tihanna Louise, an executive coach, communication consultant, producer, writer, and former television and radio news reporter. In this episode, you will learn:
1. How Tihanna Louise manages her energy as a busy mom
2. The importance of connection to self
3. Tihanna's thoughts on how moms can communicate effectively at home and in the workplace
"If every day I can practice my connection to myself over and over and over again...you start to get really good at it."
This is Tihanna Louise's story...
Tihanna grew up in Oakland, CA and has four children ranging in age from 22 to 9. Her mother was a straight shooter when it came to communication and she was always very direct with her children. Tiana learned from her mother that it's important to be real and honest with your children and that it is okay to show them the good and the bad. She also believes that when you are pursing your goals, it is important to manage your energy. She says that if you are feeling tired or drained, it is a sign that you are disconnected from yourself.
Quotes:
"Finding the connection with you means being with you. You have to be with you. Sit with yourself."
"I chose to think about my energy and what was best for me."
"Every single time, you don't choose to prioritize the connecting to yourself, you're actually hurting yourself."
"You've trained yourself not to trust yourself by not being your word yourself."
