On this week's episode the guys try to cling on to the positives after a disappointing defeat on our first return to Wrexham since "that" play off semi-final win in 2022. They also take a look at the other results in League Two this weekend, preview the Crawley game which will coincide with Grimsby's 145th anniversary and in a bumper part 3 take their first "Season Rewind" back to the 2005-2006 campaign. Prepare yourself for a heavy dose of nostalgia and to be reminded of the Play-Off Final you've probably been trying to forget ever since...

View From The Findus - Hopes And Fears - 23/24 Season Review Part 2
play

05/16/24 • 65 min

The guys return with part two of their end of season review and pick up the story on New Years Day and the disastrous 6-1 home defeat to Walsall which would turn out to be the start of a nightmare couple of months for The Mariners. They follow the season through to its conclusion and eventual safety for Artell’s men thanks in the main part to a change in formation and a more pragmatic approach to his playing style. Be sure to listen to the end of the episode as the lads conclude their first season as a podcast with the inaugural VFTF Awards; who at the club deserves special recognition (beyond Danny Rose!) and which member of the pod made the most bloopers?!

PLEASE NOTE – Due to the nature of the set up for this live recording, frustratingly, the audio is not quite to the usual standard and was more difficult to edit. As a result there are some pockets of distortion and interference but hopefully it’s not too much of an inconvenience!

Boos rang out around Blundell Park after Grimsby’s 2-0 defeat to Accrington on Saturday and the guys spend the first half of this week’s episode discussing why fan unrest has started to creep in and try to dissect a pretty abject performance. They also chat Otis Khan’s international debacle, Evan Khouri’s new contract, the FA cup first round draw and, somewhat tentatively, look ahead to the Stockport game next weekend with help from The Hatter's fan podcast 'The Scarf Bergara Wore'...

Better late than never (due to technical issues) the boys finally return to discuss the painful last minute defeat to Crawley who clearly hadn’t read the script of Grimsby’s 145th anniversary game, or had they? They also quash the 'Hurst Out' brigade, take a roundup of the other results in League Two this weekend, preview a tricky looking away game at Swindon and then begin deliberations over the podcast’s ‘Ultimate GTFC 21st Century XI’ – up first the goalkeepers! Head over to Twitter to have your vote on the final three...

They finish by previewing Grimsby’s next two games; Firstly Bradford in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night and then Accrington in the league on Saturday with insight provided by Accrington’s ‘Across The Pitch’ podcast co-host Tony Robinson...

View From The Findus - Christmas Special - The Season So Far
play

12/25/24 • 50 min

Who needs Gavin and Stacey when the VFTF boys are on hand with their first ever Christmas Special! Pour yourself a bailey’s, grab that last mince pie and settle down by the fire to hear the guys reflect on the first half of Grimsby’s season and some of the standout players and performances so far. Who have been the surprise packages, unsung hero’s and, dare we say it, biggest disappointments to date? Aswell as that all four guests are asked to give their POTY so far and rate the team’s performance with an old fashioned school grade of A* to F. Adding some Christmas frivolity along the way we also find out what the guy’s would buy a member of the squad in a hypothetical Secret Santa and look back at some of their favourite memories of past GTFC Christmas games. A leisurely listen for all Town fans during the festive break...

Hosted and produced by Chris Mills with guests Adam Howard, Steve Young, Paul Savage and Steve Claybourn.
