VYS0045 | This Is Not The End Times; This Is A Rescue Mission - Vayse to Face with Bob Cluness - Show Notes
Even more bewildered than usual, Hine and Buckley welcome writer, researcher, academic and DJ, Bob Cluness to Vayse. Bob's areas of interest include cultural studies, aesthetics, phenomenology, film studies, the weird and the eerie. Hine and Buckley nod along and try to keep up as Bob showers them in interconnecting concepts and fascinating insights with torrential force: What is hyperstition? Who were the CCRU? How does accelerationism work? Was Chaos Magick a revolutionary movement or an emanation of the emerging neoliberal capitalist system of the time? And exactly what is Nick Land's problem... (Recorded 29 July 2024)

VYS0041 | Technologies of Imagination - Vayse to Face with Bel Senlle - Show Notes
In the final episode of season 2, Hine and Buckley talk to a guest who ended up on Vayse after she appeared to Hine in a dream: Bel Senlle - artist, tarot reader, flower herbalist and creator of one of the most stylish and magical tarot decks that money can buy, the Clarity Deck. The discussion runs all the way from whether divination is reliable or deceitful, the question of whether tarot is supernatural or psychological, how Bel created the clarity deck and how she may have had some help from the other side, Bel does a reading for Vayse... and we finally try to get to the bottom of why a certain card is haunting Buckley... (Recorded 8 July 2024)
Thanks to Bel for her time and for answering our weird questions and thanks as always to Keith for the show notes - give the man a follow: @peakflow.bsky.social

SVYS001 - Show Notes
Welcome to SideVayse: an extra shot of weird across the bows of an increasingly incohesive reality. This is a place for the oddities that don't quite belong in the main podcast but are still certified 100% pure Vayse.
SideVayse is going to be the place where we try some things that are a bit different, perhaps a bit more experimental, perhaps even weirder than the main podcast. We honestly don't know yet. But in Vayse we trust.
In this inaugural episode of SideVayse, Hine talks about his recent musings on Numinous Melancholy, the pleasurable sadness that seems to haunt the winter months, why the feeling is particularly potent this year and what, if anything, can be done about it. Recorded 15 December 2022.
SVYS001 - Show Notes
Music
Carol of the Bells - Fleming and John's version and Hine's all time favourite. This is going to be day 24 of the Advent Calendar of Numinous Melancholy (Spoilers) on Hine's Twitter.
Snow Globe Blizzard by Smoke Fairies
Heron Blue by Sun Kil Moon
Famous Blue Raincoat by the late great Leonard Cohen
If you have Spotify, this is a playlist of Numinous Melancholy for your "enjoyment" - the link between Numinous Melancholy and music is highly subjective, as is the concept itself. This playlist was made by Hine and is entirely a product of his personal musical taste and his own experience. Yours will be different, feel free to share links to your own Numinous Melancholy playlists with us on our Twitter.

VYS0023 | Mercurial, Mutable, Mysterious Something - Vayse to Face with Paul Weston - Show Notes
It's episode 23 and joining Hine and Buckley to pull that cosmic trigger is none other than author, researcher, lecturer and master of synchro-mysticism, Paul Weston. In the way that only Paul knows how, he spins a wonderful, breath-taking web of strange events, synchronicities and bizarre connections which all emerged in a single extremely powerful month in his home town of Glastonbury - How did he end up scattering Courtney Love's father's ashes in the centre of the Glastonbury Zodiac? How does that relate to a series of macabre and grisly murders? And how did the discovery of a swastika on the threshold of Dion Fortune's former residence trigger a waking-dream-proximity-alert? Paul also talks about how Cosmic Trigger is a psycho-active book (a trip he's taken 29 times!), how you can encourage synchronicities in your own life and how to deal with Chapel Perilous when your time comes... recorded 26 March 2023

Darragh Mason is a podcasting hero to Hine and Buckley, he's the host of the truly excellent, award-nominated Spirit Box podcast but he's also an multi-award-winning photographer, a researcher specialising in the Djinn and the Aghori Hindu sect and the co-creator of the wonderful Sigil Engine. Darragh's latest project (one of many) is his up-coming book "Song of the Dark Man, Father of Witches" and this episode takes a deep and, at times, emotionally charged dive into the mysterious figure of the Dark Man, his prolific but largely unrecognised role in initiation into the world of witchcraft, his infrequent but significant appearances throughout folklore and his apparent ascent in the psychic aftermath of the pandemic... recorded 2 May 2023.

VYS0020 | Messages of Deception - Vayse to Face with Mark Pilkington - Show Notes
If you don't know Mark Pilkington by name, chances are you will be familiar with some of his work: he's the author of the seminal history of deception and misinformation throughout the history of the UFO phenomenon, Mirage Men, and producer of the documentary of the same name, he runs Strange Attractor Press, the diverse, beloved and well respected counterculture publisher, he's a journalist, having written for the Fortean Times, the Guardian and Bizarre Magazine amongst others, and he also records and performs music with Teleplamsiste, Luminous Foundation and the Begotten. In this episode Hine and Buckley chat to Mark about the legacy of Mirage Men, which is having a moment again with the tenth anniversary of the documentary falling this year, the recent release of the audiobook and continued favourable nods in the occultosphere and beyond. The conversation also takes turns into the way misinformation is now a pervasive part of our everyday lives, Mark's ideas about the nature of the phenomenon itself and his experiences as a crop circle hoaxer... recorded 7 March 2023

VYS0019 – It’s a Very, Very Mad World: Donnie Darko – Show Notes
In December 2002 Hine and Buckley met at the Dukes Cinema in Lancaster, Lancashire, UK, for what become one of their most cherished movie-going experiences - to watch an independent film which had already gathered a cult following: Donnie Darko. Donnie Darko is a divisive film popular opinion swings between it being a poignant and magical modern classic to it being amateurish, film school bullshit with an inexplicably great cast (and soundtrack!!!). In this feature length episode (an entire swaggering minute longer than the run-time of the theatrical cut itself!) Hine and Buckley drill down deep into why the film still means so much to them almost 21 years later, what Richard Kelly actually intended the film to mean, why it's actually a '90s masterpiece (despite not being set, made or released in the '90s) and what the "S" in "S. Darko" might stand for... Recorded 16 March 2023.
