Unseeded - Alcaraz has a big cake
play

05/11/23 • 52 min

This week's episode was delayed for a number of reasons, and for that we do apologise. It was still recorded on the Monday night so some of it may be a little outdated. In this episode, we discuss the two singles finals in Madrid, plus Andy Murray's first title since 2019. We also look ahead to Rome, and make a couple of predictions for that.

As a heads up, we may not be posting an episode next week. This is because Fer is potentially moving house next Monday, and we would not be able to find another time to record. Thank you for understanding, this is after all just a hobby of ours that we can only dedicate a certain amount of time towards.

In potentially our worst episode to date we discuss some of what has happened so far at the Mutua Madrid Open, this is without Fer having seen any of it due to being away and Rob not having time to prepare any notes due to work. Whilst the majority of this episode is waffle, we hope that you find some enjoyment in it. If all goes well, we should be back to normal next week.

Judging by the title you will see that we were both able to discuss some of the delicious drama that took place in the clash between Holger Rune and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and how our predictions for the Madrid Open are doing. If you listened last week, you'll defo know by now that Fer's predictions have turned out to be dreadful.

Unseeded - Unequal 500s, and a look ahead to Madrid
play

04/25/23 • 52 min

In this week's episode, we round up the winners from the last week of tennis. We discuss the finals of the WTA 500 in Stuttgart, the ATP 500 in Barcelona and the two ATP 250s in Munich and Banja Luka. We discuss the lack of clay court tournaments, especially ones that better prepare for the French Open, on the WTA tour. After discussing some of what has happened in the last week, we look ahead to Madrid and of course make a couple of predictions.

There is also an anecdote from Rob at the start about a tennis match that did not end too well for him.

Unseeded - Rublev, ranting, and hot takes
play

04/18/23 • 53 min

On this week's podcast we welcome back Fer from her holiday, and then discuss Rublev winning the Monte Carlo masters, whilst also touching upon some of the shenanigans that went on. Rob and Fer both rant about various topics, and we decide to end the show by sharing a few on the spot hot takes for the rest of the season. There is also mention of the recent BJK cup ties, and a brief look ahead to Stuttgart and Barcelona.

This week we catch-up with the Miami finals a couple of weeks back, we briefly look over the events of the last week (i.e. Estoril, Bogota, Charleston and Houston). We then briefly look ahead to the upcoming Monte-Carlo Masters. There is also discussion about some of the recent suggestions by Tiafoe, Gauff, and Pegula and changing the atmosphere and adding a bit of trash talk to the game. This was an admittedly a loosely formatted episode, but one where we introduced a new guest host to take the place of Fer whilst she is enjoying her holiday.

Unseeded - Indian Wells pt. 1
play

03/14/23 • 40 min

In this episode we discuss the action so far at Indian Wells. We discuss the excitement of Andy Murray winning a match in straight sets, which was then quickly dashed by a promising young Brit in Jack Draper. Other notable topics being Pegula, Medvedev, and Rob trying not to be too distracted watching Raducanu's match against Haddad-Maia whilst still trying to record.

Also to note, we reached a milestone of having 100 all-time listeners in the last week. We would like to thank everyone who has listened so far and shared this with friends, we love making this podcast but we are still a little bit amazed that there are some you that continue to listen each week.

We're a bit later than usual this week as Rob had to go to the pub on Monday night. In this pod, we talk the two clashing finals in Dubai and Doha, and Norrie's win against Alcaraz in Rio. Then Rob ends up defending Djokovic's status as potential GOAT again. And finally, Fer expresses her excitement for the Tennis being in Acapulco this week.

Unseeded - Nostalgia, waffle, and a dodgy H2H
play

02/14/23 • 52 min

This week it is Rob's turn to face a pop quiz, where he does considerably better. We then talk about the recent results over the weekend, followed by a dive into our own Tennis nostalgia. It then admittedly descends into what can only be described as vaguely related tennis waffle, and we all get reminded about the rather lopsided H2H between the two hosts.

We had re-record this episode, as the first attempt was not actually recorded. Rob forgot to turn the mic on ffs. Anyway, we covered what we had seen at Roland Garros on the first Tuesday when both of us had tickets on Chatrier, plus we discuss Mirra Andreeva and the Andreescu/Azarenka clash.
