Unresolved - Olivia Thorndike
play

02/16/20 • 75 min

Throughout 2019, bizarre classified ads started to appear in the Virginia-based Rappahannock Record, which were centered around a cold case four decades in the making.
Olivia Thorndike had been a 24-year-old young woman living in Henrico County, whose life came to a sudden and tragic end in November of 1981. While detectives and prosecutors had their suspicions about a couple of men in Olivia's orbit, they were never able to build a convincing case against either.
Nearly forty years later, Olivia's case remains unsolved, but some people continue to search for justice (those that knew Olivia, and those that never had the chance). Tragically, that means that there's not a lot of information out there about Olivia, but I've been able to learn a lot about the two violent men that revolved around her in the weeks and months before her death...

Unresolved - The Millbrook Twins (Part One: The Known)
play

02/12/18 • 34 min

In March of 1990, a pair of twins - named Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook - disappeared from their hometown of Augusta, GA.
By all indications, they were just a regular couple of teenagers. They came from a large immediate family, but spent most of their time at home: they sang along to songs on the radio, spent most of their free time lounging around in front of the television, and attended church every Sunday.
But on one particular Sunday - March 18th, 1990 - the twins walked through the neighborhood, hoping to collect bus fare from their godfather. They visited their godfather, then their cousin, and finally their sister, before stopping by a convenience store to buy some snacks. When they left the store, they were never seen again.
I am joined by the younger sister of the twins, Shanta Sturgis, as well as the hosts of the podcast The Fall Line.
Part one of three.

On the evening of 2 August 2006, a 32-year-old lawyer named Robert Wone was finishing up work at his office at Radio Free Asia in Washington D.C.
That evening, instead of commuting back to his home in Oakton, Virginia, Robert decided to crash with a college friend of his: another young lawyer named Joseph Price, who happened to live in D.C. The two had been longtime friends, and Price was well-liked by both Robert and his wife, Kathy.
However, within two hours of arriving at Joseph's $1.2 million townhouse, Robert was dead, and the circumstances surrounding his death were baffling...

Unresolved - The Delphi Murders
play

05/05/19 • 93 min

On February 13th, 2017, two teenage girls were murdered in Delphi, Indiana.
Liberty German and Abigail Williams - "Libby" and "Abby" for short - were two regular 8th graders that were enjoying a day off from school. Trying to take advantage of an unusually warm winter day, the two girls went hiking on one of Delphi's historic trails, overlooking Deer Creek.
As the girls walked along the Monon High Bridge, they were accosted by a strange man - who police believe murdered them a short time later. In some of their final moments, the girls managed to record audio and video of this man, but he has gone unidentified in the years since...

Unresolved - Malakia Logan

play

03/07/18 • 47 min

Two years before the disappearance of the Millbrook Twins, and six years before Tiffany Nelson went missing, another African American girl went missing about an hour north - in a small town called Greenwood, South Carolina.
Malakia Zali Logan was a regular kid, who spent the evening of May 15th, 1988 playing with friends. Sometime between 8:00 and 8:30 PM, she hopped on her bike and headed home - a distance no greater than 300 yards. Her bike was found overturned by the apartment's office, but she was never seen again.
Throughout the investigation, various leads and suspects would come and go. However, for nearly thirty years, the abduction and murder of "Kia" Logan has gone unsolved.

Unresolved - Tiffany Nelson

Tiffany Nelson

Unresolved

play

02/28/18 • 29 min

In June of 1994, a nine-year old girl was preparing to live out her summer dreams. Tiffany Elizabeth Nelson, a native of Augusta, Georgia, was a tomboy that loved to ride her bike while wearing frilly dresses. She had suffered the loss of her mother just two years prior, and was living with her aunt, Ora, in her home along Getzen Drive - just a few miles away from where Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook had gone missing four years beforehand.
It was the first Monday of summer vacation, when Tiffany rode her bike down to a corner convenience store just a few blocks away. She was last seen at that gas station at approximately 10:00 AM, filling up her bike tires with air. When she went missing, very little was done to find her - or to investigate any of the potential offenders living in the area.
Over the next eleven years, Tiffany would just become a footnote for the area: a cautionary tale for neighborhood children. But in 2005, a forester made a discovery roughly twenty miles south, which proved that there was more to Tiffany's case than met the eye...

Unresolved - Diana Davis

Diana Davis

play

01/22/24 • 40 min

"For us not to hear anything from her, we feel like something is definitely wrong. This has been a nightmare that won't end."
On the evening of 29 July 2020, a silver Chevy Impala was found engulfed in flame in a Tacoma, Washington alleyway. This was a street that didn't receive much thru-traffic, so there weren't any security or surveillance cameras, making it the perfect place to torch a car and get away without being seen.
Investigators would attempt to track down the owner of the vehicle, 50-year-old Diana Davis from nearby Auburn, but were unable to find her. Friends and family hadn't seen or heard from her since July 27th. As police would learn, Diana had last been seen in Tacoma, but had seemingly driven up to Seattle before going dark. Then, a week after her vehicle was discovered burning in an alleyway, Diana's remains were found roughly 70 miles to the east...

"I don't think she was at the wrong place at the wrong time. I feel like someone was after her."
On the morning of 18 April 2016, early-rising gymgoers began to arrive at the Creekside Church of Christ in Midlothian, Texas, a suburb on the southern outskirts of Dallas. There, inside the church, they expected to find their instructor, 45-year-old Missy Bevers.
Bevers, a married mother of three, had woken up early and gotten to the church a little after 4:00 AM, well ahead of her fitness students. However, she couldn't have known that someone else had been inside that church for at least half an hour. Having donned dark police equipment from head-to-toe, this unknown subject seemingly waited for Missy to arrive...
