Stop Overtreating Acute Back Pain
Unreal Results for Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers
04/30/25 • 35 min
You’re doing too much when you see a client with acute back pain... This episode of the Unreal Results podcast is sparked by recent incidents involving a colleague and an athlete who both experienced acute back pain symptoms. Most health and movement professionals are trying to do too much when treating acute back pain, most often neglecting the body’s natural protective mechanisms. In this episode, you’ll hear me talk about what I do when I have an athlete experiencing severe back pain and how to assess and provide gentle, effective treatment for acute back pain. This episode is filled with immediately applicable techniques for what is most likely a very common issue that health and movement professionals see in their practice. Don’t miss it!

Stop Thinking and Start Feeling
Unreal Results for Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers
10/30/24 • 45 min
In this week’s episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I discuss the importance of feeling instead of thinking. I recently took a course from the Barral Institute with one of my favorite instructors, Ron Mariotti, all about visceral vascular manipulation. Ron has been an integral part of how and what I teach with the LTAPTM because he’s one of the main instructors who taught me how to be better at listening to the body with my hands. In the episode, you’ll hear how a technique that was used on me has relieved digestive issues I’ve been having since September, the importance of going gentle on the pancreas, and why you shouldn’t blame your client’s body type if you’re having a hard time feeling with your hands.

Decoding The Nervous System For Health Pros
Unreal Results for Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers
10/16/24 • 58 min
This week on the Unreal Results podcast, its all about understanding (or at least trying to) the nervous system. I’m currently going through my online LTAP level 1 course with a new cohort and thought that making an episode regarding the neuroanatomy and neurophysiology would be helpful for them, but also for you. In this episode, I do a deep dive on the interplay between the central nervous system, autonomic nervous system, and enteric nervous system and their impact on the visceral organs and the immune system. You’ll also hear me talk about neuroception, polyvagal theory, and practical applications for treating the nervous system. This episode is a big one and goes in-depth, so if you have to listen to it a few times, I get it. But I promise it will be worth your time!

Unreal Results for Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers
07/31/24 • 17 min
In this week’s episode of the Unreal Results podcast, you’re going to find out that I feel some type of way about “releasing” the psoas with hard tools. This is a clip taken from episode 15, Hard No To Hard Tools In The Gut, and just by that title I’m sure you can tell how I feel. This episode highlights the potential risks associated with using hard tools in the gut as well as the safer alternatives that I love to use instead.

The Controversy Of The Gillet SI Joint Test
Unreal Results for Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers
09/04/24 • 49 min
This week on the Unreal Results podcast, I talk about one of my favorite topics - the Gillet SI joint test. Gillet’s test or sometimes known as the March test or Stork test, is typically known for having poor reliability based on previous research. If you’ve been following along for some time, you probably know that said research likes to get thrown around by the EBP police when I make posts on social media. But the often overlooked part of these research studies is that they have lots of flaws and limitations. Make sure you tune into this episode as I break down why the studies on the Gillet test aren’t the best and why I think the SI joint is innately difficult to assess with only one test.

The Hidden Signs: Detecting Red Flags & Visceral Referrals
Unreal Results for Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers
08/28/24 • 51 min
In this week’s episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I talk about recognizing and responding to red flags in patient care. First and foremost, this topic is important to me because this is what happened with my mom’s cancer diagnosis, which I talked all about in episode 1 of this podcast. I talk about how it’s important to recognize when a patient’s condition isn’t progressing as expected and the need to consider possible underlying visceral issues or red flags such as cancer or infection. You’ll also hear me talk about the importance of referring your patient to a specialist and how to do that appropriately to ensure comprehensive care for the patient. This is a must listen episode for my physical therapists, athletic trainers, and other essential sports healthcare providers.

The Secret Causes Of A Hockey Player's Aches & Pains
Unreal Results for Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers
09/25/24 • 39 min
On this episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I take some inspiration from a question I got from an athletic trainer who is taking my free mini-course, The Missing Link. Her question was regarding how the SI joint may be affected in hockey players due to various reasons including skating, shooting the puck, and their general playing position. In this episode, you’ll hear me break down how I think about how a hockey player’s dynamic posture and movement affect the visceral and neurovascular structures, which could ultimately be the main driver of their pain complaints.

How The Trigeminal Nerve Could Supercharge Your Practice
Unreal Results for Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers
07/17/24 • 22 min
For this week’s episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I’m throwing it back to episode 28, The Power of the Trigeminal Nerve. This is legitimately one of my favorite episodes, which yes, I know I say that a lot, but what I talk about in this clip can be tremendously helpful for your practice if you don’t know this information. In this episode, I talk about how the trigeminal nerve is more than just a sensory nerve to portions of the face and innervates the masseter, but also its role in the parasympathetic nervous system. I break down the anatomy of the trigeminal nerve and relate that to cranial and spinal nerves, headaches, and nervous system tension throughout the body. I truly believe that this information could truly improve the outcomes that you get with your patients.

Unreal Results for Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers
05/14/25 • 69 min
In this episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I’m joined by Amy Young, a coach who helps women navigate major life transitions. I first found Amy through her content and eventually started working with her but I’ve always loved her vibe and felt like we spoke the same language, so given the work she does, I felt she would be a great guest for the podcast. In this episdoe, Amy shares her insights from over ten years of guiding clients through mysterious body pain and personal growth. You’ll also hear us talk about reframing pain as a teacher, building a compassionate relationship with the body, and the emotional and psychological layers of healing.
