On this episode, I welcome Matt Medina. Matt grew up in Southern Nevada with his two older brothers. He played sports year-round and growing up in a law enforcement household, he volunteered as a sheriff’s cadet for much of his adolescence. Both of Matt’s parents were a part of the local law enforcement agency in various capacities throughout their careers. After high school, Matt spent 2 years working in private security in Las Vegas. He decided to set himself apart from his peers and joined the Nevada Army National Guard at the age of 20.
Matt’s story involves the struggles of co-parenting, custodial issues as a member of the military and suicide in the military. He wants to share his story to help others understand that their careers should not be the reason they don't get their children. He wants to share resources, as well as hopefully allow his story to reach out to available resources to show them where the focus needs to be.
