Welcome to Unfamous, the podcast where unfamous pastors preach the fame of God. I’m your host, Cubby Westerberg. Our show is about listening to local, reformed pastors who minister to small congregations, but they faithfully exposit the Word and preach from the Scriptures. These unfamous pastors are unknown to basically everyone but their own congregation, so I want to introduce them to you.
In today’s message, we will hear another message from Pastor Levi Secord. His last sermon was well received, and I believe this one will be just as impactful. If you haven’t heard his other message and want to hear it, it’s called What Does the Lord Require? Micah 6:8.
In today’s message, he discusses the distinction between the Old and New Testament, and how we are to understand the Old Testament laws in light of Christ. He walks us through Colossians 2:16-19, explaining how the Old Testament was a shadow of what was to come, but now that Christ has come, the substance is here. Because of this, we need to understand the Old Testament in light of Jesus.
This frees us from the Law to serve Christ under his grace. It’s a clarifying message that’s worth understanding.

Unfamous - The Permanence of the New Life
play

04/05/23 • 28 min

In today’s message, our pastor, Randy Westerberg, preaches from Romans 6:3-4 and explains what it means that we are dead to sin and alive to God. He uses a unique illustration that makes everything very clear. Basically, when a person is made a new creation in Christ, he can no longer go back to his old ways because he has been made new.
This sermon is a comfort to Christians because it assures us of the power and grace of Jesus Christ in our salvation. As I listened to this sermon, I thought of Philippians 1:6 where Paul says,
“I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” And this is true because he has made us a new creation.

Unfamous - All the Father's Gifts are Good
play

03/15/23 • 34 min

In today’s message, we get to hear a powerful and heartfelt sermon from Pastor Joe Reed at Lewis Lake Covenant Church. In 2017, his little daughter Alice, who was 4 years old, was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor. They were able to treat it for a little while, but most patients have a small remission, and then the cancer comes back, and they only live 9 months. Alice lived about that long. She died on Friday, June 8, 2018.
This sermon was originally delivered on October 15, 2017, just a few weeks after they learned the news. It’s a testament to God’s sovereign goodness that Joe trusted God through this difficult time, and it’s a testament that he still trusts God today. I had the privilege of reading Alice’s story on Joe’s website, and even after she died, he wrote the same message. God gives only good gifts, and we can trust him for that.

Unfamous - Successfully Sifted
play

05/17/23 • 24 min

Today, we will hear a message from pastor Joe Reed of Lewis Lake Covenant Church about the time when God allowed Peter to be sifted by Satan, but Jesus prayed for him.
Pastor Joe explains what sifting means in the Christian life and that although it is a difficult process, it results in our good and our becoming more like Christ. In fact, it is something all Christians go through. His message is from Luke 22:31-32

Unfamous - The Law Versus Grace in Genesis 21

Welcome to Unfamous, the podcast where unfamous pastors preach the fame of God. I’m your host, Cubby Westerberg, associate pastor of Cross Pointe Church.
Our show is about listening to local, reformed pastors who minister to small congregations, faithfully expositing the Word and preaching from the Scriptures. These unfamous pastors are unknown to basically everyone but their own congregation, so I want to introduce them to you.

What I’ve enjoyed about listening to these sermons is hearing these pastors minister to their people. Even though they are being recorded, they are not thinking about who might listen. They are thinking about their own flock. And that’s the blessing of a local church. When you’re part of a local church, you’re a part of a family, and you receive so much more than sermons.

So my hope in this podcast is not only that you are encouraged by other unfamous pastors, but that you are also encouraged by your own unfamous pastor and your own unfamous church. So next time you see your pastor, thank him for being your shepherd.

Our message today comes from Pastor Joe Reed of Lewis Lake Covenant Church in Ogilvie, Minnesota. He preaches from Genesis 21 where Ishmael mocked Isaac and the gospel-significance of that event. Let’s listen in...

Have you ever tried to share the gospel and not known where to start? Have you ever felt like you needed to compromise the truth to win someone over?

In today’s message on Acts 17:16-34, we get to hear an excerpt of a sermon from Pastor Brandon Bellomo about how to build a bridge for the gospel without compromising on the essential truths.

Unfamous - The Omniscience of God
play

02/01/23 • 35 min

Welcome to Unfamous, the podcast where unfamous pastors preach the fame of God.
I’m your host, Cubby Westerberg, associate pastor of Cross Pointe Church.
Our show is about listening to local, reformed pastors who minister to small congregations, but they faithfully exposit the Word and preach from the Scriptures. These unfamous pastors are unknown to basically everyone but their congregation, so I want to introduce them to you. For our first episode, we welcome the senior pastor of my own church, Randy Westerberg.
He’s been the pastor here at Cross Pointe Church in Cambridge, Minnesota for 27 years. Through thick and thin, he’s brought us from a small country church of about fifty people to a growing congregation of about 400. But it wasn’t flashing lights or free giveaways that brought people. He has consistently preached verse by verse through the Bible, and that’s why people have come and joined.
Since this is a podcast of Cross Pointe Church, many of the sermons will be from Pastor Randy, but I will do my best to introduce you to Reformed Pastors all over Minnesota.

In today’s message, Pastor Randy preaches about the Omniscience of God, that is to say, his all-knowing character. Nothing is hidden from his sight. And even though He knows all things, He still loves us and sent his Son to die for our sins. Let’s listen in...

These unfamous pastors are unknown to basically everyone but their own congregation, so I want to introduce them to you. Our message today is from Pastor Randy Westerberg again, and it’s a special message because it’s directed toward young people.
Young people in our culture are encouraged to stay young as long as possible, and when they do become adults, they want to regress back. They live in nostalgia land instead of the present. McDonald’s recently came out with a happy meal for adults with toys from their childhood. The culture says, “stay young and immature.” The Bible says to young people, “Be an example to everyone by your maturity.
Our message is from 1 Timothy 4:12. Let’s listen in.

Unfamous - The Successful Christian
play

02/08/23 • 29 min

Welcome to Unfamous, the podcast where unfamous pastors preach the fame of God. I’m your host, Cubby Westerberg. Our show is about listening to local, reformed pastors who minister to small congregations, faithfully expositing the Word and preaching from the Scriptures.
These unfamous pastors are unknown to basically everyone but their own congregation, so I want to introduce them to you. Today, I’m going to do something a bit different and introduce myself a little bit and share one of my sermons.
I was born and raised in Cambridge, Minnesota. I’ve been a part of my church since I was six years old, that’s when my dad became the pastor. It was called Dalbo Baptist back then, but now we are Cross Pointe. The Lord saved me when I was fifteen during a week at summer Bible Camp, and my life has never been the same since. I went to the University of Northwestern in Saint Paul, Minnesota where I got my English Education Degree. I also met my wife Sarah there, and we were married in our senior year of college.
After college, I went to The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and I crammed a four-year degree into 8 years while I worked at Cross Pointe. Now, I’m working with the youth group, leading worship, biblical counseling, and doing a lot of the “other” stuff that goes into making church happen.
I feel blessed to be a pastor at Cross Pointe, and I’m excited to see what God will do with this podcast. I’m hoping it will be a blessing to many small, rural churches in Minnesota.
I’m sharing a message with you today that I preached about three months ago. It’s about what it means to be a successful Christian. When it comes to the world’s standards, success is physical health and material wealth, but God’s standard of success is different. He wants to give us spiritual health and spiritual wealth. Let’s see what we can learn from Joshua 1:8.
