In today's episode, Kevin shares a sermon he delivered at The Garden Church in Bakersfield, CA. He begins by sharing the mosaic of experiences that have relentlessly shaped him, from navigating the early days of marriage and career trials to the quiet joy of adopting their daughter. Kevin's path has taken him from the disciplined structure of a Marine Corps officer through the grit of police work, to the profound burnout that pushed him toward a healthier, more intentional existence.
We examine the teachings of Jesus and their impact on living a life that's not just abundant, but also generous and service-oriented. It's a trek that's as much about becoming Christ-like in character as it is about finding our place in a distraction-filled world. I invite you to reflect on how these spiritual insights can be woven into the fabric of your daily life, enriching not just your path, but also those around you.
Lastly, we embrace the concept of stewardship, considering its place in marriage, family, community, and spirituality. It's about elevating every aspect of life through intentional living, a strategy that delivers freedom far beyond the ordinary. Join us for this journey toward an intentionally designed life.

Uncommon Freedom - The Ultimate Freedom

The Ultimate Freedom

Uncommon Freedom

play

05/23/22 • 37 min

In this episode, I talk about what I believe is the Ultimate Freedom, the one without which no other freedom matters. In the aftermath of the Roe V. Wade SCOTUS leak and the chaos left in the wake of that lack of integrity and accountability in our political system, the most important thing to address is what is abortion and when does life begin? Science has answered the second question, so logic answers the first question. Previously the biggest arguments for abortion are conceptions due to rape, incest, and cases where the mother’s life is in danger. But we have devolved into a society where the extreme left claims they enjoyed their abortion so much that they got pregnant again so they could have another abortion. The similarities between abortion and the other historical atrocities through the course of history (the Holocaust and slavery in America and the rest of the world) are clear and convincing if you are intellectually honest.

On Sunday, Jun 26, 2022, our family was in the middle of a “routine” church service when a commotion in the aisle led to a rapid evacuation by the majority of people sitting in our section. Because of the national tension created by the recent US Supreme Court decision regarding Roe. vs. Wade and threats from left-wing extremist groups like Jane’s Revenge (Jane’s Collective), people were on high alert and probably overreacted. It was my first time being in a chaotic situation like this with my family so it was a unique experience for me as well. Dylan share’s his perspective on the commotion, the fear induced by the evacuation, and then what he felt as he watched his father rush back into the chaos to help investigate and potentially neutralize the threat if any.

You’ll hear Dylan’s mature understanding of the world combined with what’s left of his juvenile innocence in this evil, chaotic culture we live in.
