When should a player start to learn Theory? After the last divisive podcast, this week the team tries to remind everyone that they're offering OPINIONS (usually) more than facts. This Week's OPINION is that you should wait before really getting into Music Theory. The guys explain why they think this way and how you can start to investigate Music Theory. Other topics discussed are pickup brands, tremolo-ing on 2 strings, learning the fretboard, and who comes up with the Play Along Song Arrangements. If you find a song “Boring”, use Chord Substitutions to spice them up. Kahai Challenges Aldrine to demonstrate a couple of ways you can change a song by “Replacing” one or two chords. Aldrine starts by adding notes to the base chord to make new Substitutions. On the next Level, Aldrine shows how you can use Relative Chords as Substitutions, and how you can combine both techniques to make a song your own. The guys also discuss how knowing some Music Theory is a good shortcut to find new Substitutions, but if you want to jump in, it can be as easy as Adding or Subtracting fingers from a Chord. The team shares some of their favorite examples of Musicians who didn’t know Music Theory, but still made great Music. Viewers ask about Baritones as Starter Ukes, and what Amp Settings should be used for Ukuleles before the guys open a gift box from UU Member, Rux.

The Real Magic Mike is back for another Ukulele Underground Podcast. Aldrine answers some questions from a previous podcast where viewers asked how to properly hold the Ukulele if they play a smaller size (Concert or Soprano), or how to play while standing. This leads to a discussion about particularly difficult to hold ukuleles, and where your strumming/fingerpicking hand placement should be if you don't play a conventional ukulele? The "Best Sounding" Ukulele is brought up again, and the question of if Aldrine has tried this ukulele with a High G is asked. The guys also talk about Aldrine's Up Strum with his Thumb, and #Answerin5 questions about chord names and Aldrine and Mike's signature hats. The podcast ends with Mike saying where you can find him (and Kyle), the guys thanking Vets for their service, and reminding everyone that the Song Challenge is due by Next Week.

They also list songs that get them Hyped before performances. The guys answer some audience questions about Widening the groove in your nut, and Traveling with your Ukulele. It's always a blast with Mike Around. Let us know what Mike's new nickname should be?
