Two Friends and a Coffin - Episode 15: Judith "Yup Yup" Barsi's Tragic Death
play

05/05/23 • 36 min

Judith Eva Barsi's roles as Ducky in "The Land Before Time" and Anne-Marie in "All Dogs Go to Heaven" were foundations of our childhoods (well, at least those raised in the 80s and 90s). Yet, few probably recall that these two films were released posthumously. After years of threats from an alcoholic father, Jozsef Barsi carried through, and on July 28, 1988, Judith was found dead, along with her Mother and Father. The daughter of Hungarian immigrants, this American Dream ended in a terrible nightmare of family violence.
In this episode, Carls speaks for the adorable Judith Barsi and her mother Maria, in this season 2 opener of Two Friends and a Coffin.

Two Friends and a Coffin

play

06/28/22 • 47 min

The Copelands were like many other older couples across the landscape of the postwar American South. Ray was an irascible farmer, scraping a meager existence on a farm in rural Missouri. Faye, the dutiful housewife, handled the household finances, and lived in fear of the frequent beatings from her husband. Their domestic life would eventually take a sinister turn. After 5 bodies of their farm hands were found on neighboring farms, Ray and Faye were convicted and sentenced to death, becoming the oldest serial killer couple on death row.

Carl Tanzler: Mad doctor or (slightly unhinged) helpless romantic? For seven years he lived with the object of his affection, showering her with gifts and romance. Perfectly touching, if not for the little problem that she had died years earlier. But, no job was too large (or messy) for the "Count Von Cossel." Using rags, bits of wire, wax, silk, and even a wig of her own shorn hair, Tanzler worked tirelessly to bring her back to life. In this episode of Two Friends and a Coffin, Carls and Behn open the coffin of Elena de Hoyos, the unwilling corpse bride of Key West.

Two Friends and a Coffin - "The Kindly Killer": Britain's Jeffrey Dahmer, Dennis Nilsen
play

07/15/22 • 71 min

In 1983 a plumber found human flesh and bone blocking the drain pipes of a home in North London. After questioning the polite, kindly man living in the 3rd floor flat, investigators were horrified to find that these were the remains of 3 victims, their flesh boiled, cleaved from their bones, and then flushed down the toilet. Nearly a decade before Jeffrey Dahmer, the necrophile Dennis Nilsen would go on to become known as the most notorious killer in British history (after Winston Churchill, of course...). In this episode, Carls, Behn, and their special guest, Vicky, remember the 15 victims of "The Kindly Killer."
