Celebrating Milestones: Special Guest Stacy Dam
Two Broad Casters
09/18/24 • 85 min
For the first time, the Two Broads had a repeat guest on the show. Stacy Dam of Set Your Sites, joined us again after only under three months due to all of the barriers and goals she has busted down. Goals she spoke of in her first visit and boom, they happened. If you missed Stacy's first cast discussing her, "see a need, fill a need" business idea and the weird accident she had that spurred her into action, please go listen to the Set Your Sites episode back in June. We were so excited to see this lady who is fast becoming the first in a business league all her own; a pretty big deal actually. We discuss keeping motivated and taking time to acknowledge, celebrate and sit in the milestones for a minute as the journey really is everything. Also, it seemed fitting to celebrate Stacy's win with our own milestone here at Two Broad Casters as this is our 100th episode we have recorded. It won't take you long into this cast (like immediately) to see how there is zero improvement in the tech department after 100 episodes as Lauri tries to enter the show with what she thought was a sound bite of celebration and clapping sounds and well.... epic fail. Oh well, the broads are known for this type of awkwardness at this point. Tune in friends for this episode sure to encourage and make you laugh.
Important Conversation with Joseph (Jake) Klein, Author of Redefining Racism; How Racism Became Power + Prejudice
Two Broad Casters
10/22/24 • 130 min
The Two Broads were so pleased to have had Author Joseph (Jake) Klein on this episode where a very important topic was discussed. Klein's new book, Redefining Racism; How Racism Became Power + Prejudice, is a very well researched and important book bringing to light a very little known history of how anti racists movements have actually pushed culture backwards in the arena of inclusion and diversity. This book has been a six year journey and Jake shares some of his research pointing out that the way to real progress in anti racism must include being anti racist towards all. Perhaps it boils down to the truth that the real way to raise a bar is not by pushing others down but to raise the bar on oneself. Despite some short tech difficulties this is an episode to hear.
A Broad View On Greece
Two Broad Casters
05/02/24 • 73 min
One of the Broads, who fresh off of a trip to Greece, felt compelled to share her take on the trip. As both of the broads have now been to this wonderful country they weren't short on things to say about it and observations about the Greeks. This episode is rather like a get a way. Enjoy.
Convenience & Consumerism
Two Broad Casters
07/26/24 • 111 min
The Two Broads have a conversation on this episode about how convenience, or a least the sales pitch of it, has led us into the really deep end of consumerism. We wonder if we are better off for it all despite the obviousness of much of it. Do we purchase without much real thought whenever something is sold as making our lives easier or better in some ways? Has all of that stuff we have bought lived up to its promise? Do we even use half of the stuff we have? Why do we think we have to constantly buy stuff? We bring up this topic in an effort to perhaps put some thought into how we are actually managing our lives though our stuff and our finances and our impulses to over buy. Perhaps we should spend a little more time being a producer of something at least once in a while as being known as consumers starts to feel heavy.
Prop-A-Ganda
Two Broad Casters
07/20/24 • 82 min
In this episode, in an attempt to soften the edges to so many campaign weary and anxiety stricken hearts the Two Broads are here to give a possible moment to readjust perspectives. Propaganda is the topic on this cast. A little background about it, what it is, how it's used and more. We even created a game called Spot The Ganda which we feel could aid humanity in surviving what now seems like an every four year virus that needs inoculation. Tune in as this is insightful and important but plenty of humor is poured throughout along with some snark and salt of course. Tune in!!
Set Your Sites With Stacy Dam
Two Broad Casters
07/11/24 • 112 min
Great conversation with 2+1 broad, Stacy Dam, owner of Set Your Sites which is an idea and service that brings campgrounds into the 21st century. We loved hearing this idea of hers that is now catching some major waves and even more fascinating is the story of when she decided to actually give what was "just an idea" her attention and roll the dice. Stacy came through quite an ordeal which left her leaning towards another way of life for her and her family. She went through a real rough season and is now understanding and seeing the lessons and the rewards of making a big change. This is a great cast for anyone who is an idea person who wishes to actually turn the idea into more than that. A passionate and motivating cast to be sure and we hope it leaves your feeling as pumped up as it did us.
Living Off The Land With Guests Shawn & Beth Dougherty
Two Broad Casters
06/27/24 • 104 min
Living off of the land. Going off the grid. There is a mass conscience directed towards the desire to own a piece of property and return to an agrarian society. To be able to grow your own food and own a few of your own animals. In this episode we have a great conversation with Shawn & Beth who have been doing just that for over 40 years. Not only do they live off of their land 95% they have a heart to teach others. They spend much time speaking at conferences and their book, The Independent Farmstead is a must for anyone setting out on this awesome journey. If you want to really understand how the ecosystem really works, how we can learn to understand the ground, how you can create better food for your family, how we are being lied to and so much more don't miss this one.
Coffee Talk. Literally. With Guest Amanda Pumphrey
Two Broad Casters
06/20/24 • 127 min
How much do you know about Joe? That beverage that may be the start to your every day. We got to chat with Amanda Pumphrey, owner of Pumphrey and Beard Coffee Comany which is both a coffee house with two locations but also coffee roasters. Learn about that bean, (not a bean) we love and seemingly rely on so much. Coffee is very interesting starting with the plant perspective to the global marketplace of it to the cultures that have coffee as an important centerpiece. Of course as any authentic coffee talk conversation would have it; we meander, boy to we meander. Good conversation. P.S. Support your local coffee roasters!
Building An Artistic Culture With Special Guest Angie Craft
Two Broad Casters
06/12/24 • 119 min
We had the pleasure of having good conversation with Angie Craft, artist and owner of Sassafras Galleria and The Back Room Event Venue located in Wahoo, NE. Angie loves art and is a warrior dedicated to promoting art, aiding young artists and providing events and opportunities for artists of all types. She has done so much for the small town of Wahoo and for artists as she builds community through creativity. It was a perfect match up with yours truly two broads who feel the same and promote creativity every chance they get as well. More people NEED to indulge themselves in some type of creativity no matter the level you are at with it. The mere act of creating anything has the power to heal, gain fresh perspectives, puts things into better perspectives, interrupts worry, aids in creating a relaxed feeling, helps in problem solving and so much more yet many do not try to learn these truths. Fun cast about a subject they are all passionate about. Despite a mic problem of Lauri's it is still a great conversation.
Caution: Holidays Ahead
Two Broad Casters
11/14/24 • 108 min
Well, here we go; we are heading straight for the time of year that seems to bring with it the best and worst of times. The Two Broads bring their annual pre-season tips for getting into the right mindset for all of the festivities. Why? Because the stress level of so many is palpable starting around Thanksgiving and honestly, it reveals things about ourselves that could be wonderful indicators that need our attention that we may be ignoring; gaining more peace within everyday, not just around the Holidays.
