True Light

We continue our series our prayer with a first talk on Divine Liturgy and Prayer. Fr Geoffrey Ready from Holy Myrrhbearers parish comes and talk to us about the Eucharist and four of its essential Characters: Trinitarian, Ecclesial, Eschatological and Cosmic.

The Sheptytsky Institute launches it podcast with Pascal Bastien and Brian Butcher. Following the liturgical calendar, this first episode delves into the feast of Theophany, and explains why it is central in our celebration of the Incarnation. It discusses the importance of holy water and explores the icon of the feast.

In this first episode of Season Three, we speak with Fr. Mykhailo Ozorovych, the Rector of Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in New Westminster, British Columbia. Fr. Mykhailo shares with us about his formation in Ukraine and Canada (His studies were with MASI), and the joys and challenges of being a pastor in a large multi-cultural city, and his thoughts on the future of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in North America.

The first of a series of episodes wherein the founder of the Sheptytsky Institute, Fr. Andriy Chirovsky, details for us the formation and vision of the Institute, the influences of Patriarch Josyf Slipyj and Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky, the institute’s beginnings in Chicago, moving to Ottawa, and then to Toronto, with special visits to monasteries in Redwood Valley, California and Orangeville, Ontario.

In this mini-episode, True Light speaks with Chicago-based journalist, Julian Hayda, about the Cubs, competing visions for the future of the Church and the all-encompassing nature of liturgical prayer.
