- **Picture our cells as bustling cities full of mitochondria**
**Diving into the Mitochondrial Mystery**
Our adventure today takes us into a fantastic research study that reveals some secrets about our mitochondrial DNA. True Health Recovery - Unlocking the Mystery of Neuroinflammation
play

05/15/23 • 36 min

Description:
Join Dr. Hugh Wegwerth in this thought-provoking podcast as he delves into the fascinating topic of neuroinflammation and its intricate connection to fluoroquinolone toxicity. Neuroinflammation, a condition characterized by brain inflammation triggered by the use of fluoroquinolone antibiotics, often goes unnoticed despite its potential to cause a wide array of symptoms. Fatigue, pain, and disruptions in the nervous system are just a few of the many manifestations of neuroinflammation emphasized on Dr. Wegwerth's webpage.
Delving into the intricacies of this phenomenon, Dr. Wegwerth sheds light on how fluoroquinolones have a particular affinity for fat tissue, making the brain, predominantly composed of fat, susceptible to neuroinflammation. Tune in as he unravels the paradoxical symptoms experienced by individuals affected by neuroinflammation, ranging from joint and muscle pains to mood swings, anxiety, depression, and cognitive impairments.
Through this enlightening podcast, Dr. Wegwerth underscores the vital importance of identifying and addressing neuroinflammation promptly to prevent the progression of more severe neurological issues. From subtle signs like brain fog and reduced mental speed to moderate symptoms such as depression and insomnia, and even severe complications like speech difficulties, tremors, and seizures, the impact of neuroinflammation should not be underestimated.
If these symptoms resonate with you, Dr. Wegwerth urges you to consider seeking medical advice, as they may indicate brain inflammation. Stay tuned for subsequent episodes in this captivating series, where Dr. Wegwerth will explore the available tests to determine the presence and severity of neuroinflammation, as well as effective treatment approaches.
Please note that the information provided in this podcast is for educational purposes only and should not replace consultation with a qualified healthcare professional.
Prepare to embark on a captivating journey with Dr. Hugh Wegwerth as he unravels the significance of testing for neuroinflammation in his thought-provoking podcast episode, "Testing for Neuroinflammation: Understanding the Blood Brain Barrier Permeability." Delve into the depths of the complex concept of blood brain barrier permeability and its crucial role in the development of neuroinflammation, a condition commonly referred to as "brain on fire," particularly affecting those who have previously taken fluoroquinolones.

In this illuminating episode, Dr. Wegwerth sheds light on the thin yet pivotal membrane known as the blood brain barrier, which acts as a protective barrier between the bloodstream and the brain. However, the integrity of this barrier can be compromised, allowing unwanted proteins to infiltrate the brain. Through insightful explanations, the webpage highlights how the blood brain barrier is vulnerable to damage, and when it breaks down, foreign substances gain easy access, triggering inflammation within the brain.

With a focus on the consequences of a compromised blood brain barrier, the podcast emphasizes the concept of a "leaky brain" and its implications for various symptoms and potential neuronal damage. A particularly intriguing revelation is the pivotal role played by glial cells, comprising a staggering 90 percent of the brain's cells, in supporting and safeguarding neurons. However, when neuroinflammation arises, these glial cells can mistakenly attack neurons, exacerbating symptoms and complications.

Dr. Wegwerth expertly delves into the multifaceted journey of resolving neuroinflammation by restoring the health of glial cells and fostering a resilient immune system.
