True Health Recovery

Dr Hugh Wegwerth DC

How many friends or family members do you know who are struggling with their health? Probably more than you think. And there's a good chance you're in the same boat, whether it's dealing with anxiety, depression, endometriosis, PCOS, acne, eczema, psoriasis, autoimmune issues, thyroid problems, Lyme disease, brain fog, or just plain fatigue. Trust me, you're not alone. These days, living with health symptoms has become the unfortunate norm.

Most people just learn to live with their health issues, accepting them without questioning why there hasn't been more progress in medical research. But more and more often, these symptoms begin to seriously affect people's quality of life, stripping away the joys and freedoms they once took for granted. They find themselves part of a "hidden army" of sufferers, possibly confined to their homes or even hospitalized, as they bounce from one doctor to another, losing hope and their spark along the way.

The truth is, no one is immune to health issues. Given what we face in today's world and its impact on our bodies, it's possible that anyone could suddenly start showing symptoms out of the blue.

That's where Dr. Hugh Wegwerth D.C. comes in. Join him in his enlightening podcast as he shares groundbreaking, ahead-of-the-curve medical insights that millions around the globe are already using to heal and conquer chronic illnesses. But a heads-up: if you prefer to stay in the dark about these issues, then this podcast might not be for you.

  • Over is advance cardiovascular labs that you can have done to see exactly what kind of condition your arteries are in and if you are actually prone to cardiovascular disease, because let's be frank, 50% of all people in America will die of heart disease.
  • And guess what? The first sign of cardiovascular diseases or what the first sign of a heart attack is? It is death.
  • That's right. 50% of people that have a heart attack die. So that's 50% of your symptoms are no symptoms. It's death.
  • So what I'm going to walk you through is a case of mine, of a client of mine that is, that we did some labs and he has chronic pain all over his body and in particular in his low back.

Mystery Case Solved With The Correct Approach

If you are suffering from a mysterious medical condition that has been difficult to diagnose, then this may be the article for you.

What follows is an example of a client. It is important to note that this example is a fictional person, but these symptoms are extremely common in the patients I work with every day, and may even sound like symptoms you are experiencing yourself.

Let’s say we have a female patient who is:

45 years old

Premenopausal

Has both low blood pressure and low blood sugar

Low levels of iron and thyroid functions

GI problems (particularly gas, bloating, and constipation)

Low levels of vitamin D

Gluten sensitivity

Difficulty remaining asleep

What Does Not Work for This Client

The conventional system will see she is premenopausal and fatigued, and say she must be depressed. They then prescribe an antidepressant.

Next, they look at her GI problems and say it must be gerd. They give her a medication meant to reduce the amount of stomach problems, which only messes with her system even more.

Once they identify her sleeping problems, they may even add a third medication to help her sleep at night.

The process goes on and on, and soon she is pumping herself full of medications.

There is a better way.

Functional Medicine’s Approach

I would tell this client they are not crazy, that these symptoms are real, but that we can treat them as naturally as possible. The goal is not to fill them with medications, but is to increase their God-given ability to heal.

First we would run some labs to see what different readings we have. These labs often can tell us a lot more about what may be causing some of these problems. For example, she may have deficiencies or excess amounts of some nutrients which are affecting her thyroid, sleep, or blood pressure.

Speaking of which, I would immediately check blood pressure. A lot of women who come to me end up having low blood pressure. Because blood pressure is what causes nutrients to enter into your cells all over your body, if we don’t address the blood pressure, then nothing else we do will have much effect.

Next I would look at blood glucose levels over time. It is very simple and affordable to do, and we can find that she has poor sugar regulation throughout her day.

Once we find your low iron levels I would ask her about fatigue and if she has heavy menstrual cycles. She may be losing enough blood to throw off her body’s ability to regulate iron. It may also be diet related. Iron delivers oxygen to the body, so low iron will cause a lot of different problems.

Next is the thyroid. The conventional system only does the cheapest labs available for your thyroid. On the other hand, we have found that you have an autoimmune disease against your thyroid. That would lead us down an entirely different path of treatment as well.

With vitamin D, the typically acceptable range is 30-100. Anywhere in there, the conventional system will tell you that you are fine. I like to see you closer to 80, so we add vitamin D to your diet.

We also look at your food sensitivities to address your gluten and GI problems. It i

If you're watching this video and you have a chronic problem, you definitely want to watch the whole entire video. Why? Because I'm going to go over some very, very critical data that it can that can explain why you have a chronic problems and why you're chronically inflamed and why you're not getting well. So what I'm going to do right now is I'm going to go over a case. I'm going to go over some general symptoms that she presents. She's a female in her seventies, super, super great lady, wants to get better and she can meet and we put her on a guided plan. I'm just going to go over some couple clinic, real specific clinical gems that could help you out and figure out what's going on with your problem. So she comes in with she's been down by damaged by antibiotics in 2007. She has neuropathy, weak legs, pain in a hip current UTI and then poor sleep wakes up almost every hour. So these are really devastating things. And we did a variety of things. But I'm going to go over a couple key things that we did with her. So one of the key things that I do is I have all my clients take their blood sugar. It's a very, very simple process. You can buy the meter on Amazon for 30 bucks. So what we do is we check your glucose before you eat, 60 minutes, before you eat, 30 minutes after 60 minutes, after 90 minutes after.

https://www.drhughwegwerth.com/post/autoimmune-mysteries-revealedhttps://www.drhughwegwerth.com/post/autoimmune-mysteries-revealed
Many people are unknowingly suffering from an underlying autoimmune disease. If you, like so many out there, are suffering from some sort of chronic issue, but no one has been able to figure out the cause of your problems, it is likely that you too are suffering from some sort of autoimmune disease.

Putting it in Perspective

You probably are not aware of just how prevalent autoimmune diseases are in the modern world. Let’s put it into perspective by comparing autoimmune diseases to another very common genre of disease: cancer.

Cancer is a terrible disease. It has taken so many lives to the point that everyone knows someone who either has cancer, or has died from cancer. And yet the number of people who suffer from autoimmune diseases in the United States is more than double the number of people with cancer.

On top of that, autoimmune diseases cost Americans over $100 billion each year, while the cost to treat cancers rakes in $57 million yearly. And yet cancer gets $6.1 billion of funding to research cures and treatments, while autoimmune diseases only received $591 million.

In fact, 1 in every 6 Americans will suffer from an autoimmune disease each year. In contrast, 1 in every 13 Americans will suffer from heart disease, and 1 in 33 will suffer from some form of cancer.

There are over 80 different autoimmune diseases which we know of, and over 50 million Americans are currently suffering or treating their issues. Interestingly 75% of all autoimmune patients are women.

What Causes Autoimmune Disease?

Autoimmune diseases are when the body attacks itself. Your immune system incorrectly responds against your body’s own tissues. Your immune system is constantly analyzing everything in your body, and trying to determine if it is a “friend” or a “foe.” Your immune system errs on the side of aggression, so if it is confused then it will respond by attacking those tissues.

Think of it like your immune system getting drunk. It might recognize too much of a system or organ. Since having too many thyroids would be problematic, your immune system will decide to attack those tissues to remove the excess.

If your autoimmune disease goes undiagnosed or untreated, then your immune system response will continue to ramp up its response. The inflammation caused by your system attacking itself will further trigger an immune response, only worsening your condition.

What Forms Can Autoimmune Disease Take?

This can happen in almost any system in your body, but most commonly takes these forms:

Multiple Sclerosis

Celiac Disease

Crohn’s Disease

Type 1 diabetes

Asthma

Arthritis

Lupus

Eczema

Psoriasis
