T.O. Episode 121 – Bucksplaining

Traditional Outdoors Podcast Archives - Traditional Outdoors

play

12/05/21 • 67 min

In this post Thanksgiving episode I get to discuss recent success in GA, Nick and I chat about some new gear purchases and then we get into our main topic of discussion and the growing trend of folks posting their successes in the deer woods with a disclaimer that they know it is not the biggest deer but......... The buckshaming and bucksplaining need to take a rest. Hunters need to be proud of their kills and not feel they need to apologize because the animal may not meet the standards of others. Its time to stop the #buckshaming and the #buckslaining!

We start this week’s episode with a bit of humor and then both Thom and I have hunting success stories to discuss and we get into a little bit of tactics discussion as well. Next week I am headed to Michigan and there will likely be some good content to come out of that trip as well. We hope you enjoy!

T.O. Episode 119 – Road Trip Ruminations

In this episode I am recording from the road (apologies for any road noise in advance) headed to Michigan for a hunt with good friends. While sitting in the car for 12 hours I had some time to record and ruminate, or “chew my cud” on a few things that have been on my mind the past couple of weeks. Part of the episode is related to seeking advice and wading through some of the bad advice out there and part is based on some advice I have for bow hunters based on a recent successful hunt in the Georgia woods. I do hope you enjoy and if the hunt this week went well then hopefully there will be something to record of interest on my drive back to Georgia. I hope you enjoy this one and maybe it will give you some things to ruminate on as well.

I am dedicating Episode #116 to my dearest friend and my wife of 23 years, Mrs. Lorrie Angell. I begin the show with an update regarding my wife. For anyone that does not know Lorrie lost her battle with cancer on August 22nd. From there Nick and I have a couple of new bows to chat about which leads into arrow dialog and we wrap up with discussions about the 2021 fall hunting season and future adventures planned or being planned. Should be a lot of excitement coming in the next year or so and we hope to have a lot to bring to the show as a result.

In Episode #117, Nick and I are pretty steamed up with Social Media “Experts”, “That’s not trad” Nazis and the masses of foam hunting professionals. In this episode we get a lot of this off our chests and have some good natured fun in the process. We had fun and hope you will enjoy it as well.

In Episode #114, I sit down with Nick to discuss some of his adventures so far in 2021. I also give everyone an update on my wife and express a sincere thank you to everyone that has reached out to ask about how she is, and for all of the donations, raffles and more. The podcast is not going anywhere I just need everyone to be patient with me. We hope you enjoy.

T.O. Episode 122 – Happy Holidays and 2022 Goals

Traditional Outdoors Podcast Archives - Traditional Outdoors

play

12/19/21 • 63 min

In episode 122 Nick and I put a pin in 2021 as this will be our final episode of this year. We also want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2022. We spend most of this episode discussing goals for 2022, neither of us are big on “New Year’s resolutions” but we both do like to set goals for ourselves for the coming year. I have been thinking about this alot the past couple of weeks and perhaps even the past few months. With my “new normal’ (I hate that term even more now but it does apply) I have set some very specific goals to begin as soon as deer season ends to begin preparing for next fall as well as some activities that have been put on hold the past couple of years. We hope you enjoy.
