An eccentrically nuanced exploration into Fortean philosophy, focusing on the roles of Mother Nature, the Trickster and the experiencer in shaping phenomena, with tremendous doses of absurdity, mischief, but also humility! Cryptids, UFOs, Paranormal phenomena, High strangeness and Fortean anomalies, do they all possibly originate from the same source? Are they actually a mirror to our own subconsciousness, and what may they teach us about ourselves? We seek to catalogue the overlooked, spotlight the disregarded, and remind that the cosmic expanse is much greater than our understanding of it!

Elizabeth shares a slice of her experiences with sleep paralysis, as well as all associated entities! Shadow people, hags, hatman, biblical angels, fae... even knife man (a new one), she's seen 'em all! We even throw unicorns and mermaids into the mix to make the episode more whimsical!

Can sleep demons actually be angels, and can sleep paralysis be a gateway towards lucid dreaming? Along the way we discuss the relationship between religion, spirituality and science, we attempt to communicate with our child selves, and share the burdens of being fellow indie/hobbyist podcast creators.

Garett shares his zany adventures sleuthing for, and ultimately embodying, a mysterious shrimp creature!

Garrett Kelly is the co-founder of Liminal Earth, a crowd-sourced online map of the weird and unusual. In his spare time he also enjoys investigating anomalous occurrences in and around the urban environments of Bremerton and Seattle... sometimes while dressed in a shrimp costume!

So what's the deal with the shrimp? Well... upon moving to Bremerton, WA, he learned of an old magazine article detailing a witness's terrifying encounter with a 5-foot tall shrimp creature lurking in her basement.

This case sent Garrett on a wild goose chase, encountering clues and synchronicities leading him to piles of peeled oranges, a mysterious goggled man, hidden shrimp-infested creeks, an abandoned dream park, child-stealing snail women, and a profound realization that such strange journeys help remind us of the innate magic hidden within our own cities!

======================

Huge THANK YOU!!! to Garrett Kelly of Liminal Earth for sharing these hilarious glimpses into the unknown and his efforts to reintroduce a bit of mystery in his urban community! ❤️

Tracing Owls - Meat-Eating Murder Horses - with Horsegirl Kat
play

04/28/22 • 120 min

Horsegirl Kat, an avid horse rider, joins to discuss a dark secret we have willfully ignored throughout the centuries.

Are horses bloodthirsty carnivorous killers? From baby chicks, to human testicles, to even others of their kind, horses have consistently been witnessed throughout history devouring meat and sipping on blood. When pitted against mountain lions, tigers or even humans, they are capable of mercilessly eliminating their enemies!

Are they true monsters, or is this the result of mingling with humans for 6 thousand years? All of this and more... may be answered in the book we read! If you desire facts, why are you listening to podcasts? Go read a book!

Is animism a dirty word? How is this belief system interpreted by different cultures? I have no idea, but I sure as heck know my own Slavic culture started out animistic! Where do Early Slavs fit on the animistic spectrum?

For the sake of inclusivity, I unify all the Balkan Slavic cultures and share a small portion of our folklore, our beliefs of inanimate objects possessing a spirit, and the deliberate destruction of our true spiritual origins!

WARNING: Our folklore is very fucked up. You will hear stories of women being walled into castles as a blood sacrifice, dead unbaptized infants haunting their own parents for not conforming to Christian propaganda, and even watermelons turning into vampires!

Are alien abductions actually psychedelic and spiritual experiences? Should all abduction experiences be studied through the traditional nuts & bolts ufological approach, and how deep down the rabbit hole are we actually willing to follow the experiencers? We share our own experience reading the magnificent book "The Andresson Affair", diving into the religious symbology of the case, the psychic-UFO connection, and the evolution of a ufologist's beliefs through decades of interaction with their own research subject!

======================

This episode is dedicated to Betty Andreasson Luca, who sadly passed away this March.

From Betty's Obituary: Betty was internationally renowned due to abduction experiences she had  with otherworldly entities during her life. Her experiences are some of  the most researched and heavily documented, and were written about in a  NY Times best-selling book, magazines, and newspapers. In addition, Betty appeared on many TV and Radio shows, and lectured on the phenomena  all over the U.S.

Betty was a dedicated and loving wife and mother of seven children. Not only was Betty a positive influence in their lives, but also in the  lives of all who knew her. She was a very special light on this earth  and will be dearly missed.

We join forces with Christina attempting to tackle this pain-in-the-ass cryptid mystery, only to have it completely run over us... with its wheel... on its ass! Yup, this cute seal has a freaking wheel between its buttcheeks... which it uses to zip through its arctic landscape!

The internet disregards it, the locals want it dead, but we want to figure out just what the heck this wheel is??? A tail? A horny outgrowth? Petrified cheese? Or maybe something more disgusting 💩

Karly joins to discuss mediumship as an art form, Tarot as a tool of storytelling, and the relevancy of divination in today's diversified paranormal sphere.

Through her journey of self-reconstruction, Karly has learned to apply Tarot for the purposes of shadow work and narrative building, helping experiencers piece together the meanings behind their personal folklores.

She sets all cards on the table and shares her personal story of overcoming a conditioned belief system, the destruction and rebuilding of her own identity, and synchronistic events which first landed a deck of cards into her open hand.

======================

Huge THANK YOU!!! to Karly, The Village Tarot Witch for her immense honesty and bravery in sharing her struggles with faith, personal identity and institutionalized oppression. I have learned a lot about mediumship as art and have been deeply touched by this conversation ❤️

After a few podcast appearances and a conversation with a fellow fortean, I expand upon my ideas on the Gaia hypothesis and the Gaian influence on human consciousness.

Is Mother Earth harnessing us as gateways to other dimensions, and is she enticing us with the paranormal to act as vectors of her own expansion?

A series of e-mail exchanges with my Gaian mentor David Perkins encourages me to keep digging into these ideas!
