Tokyo Metro Vol.17 (Live at Space Dock)
Tokyo Metro (Deep, Dark Sounds from the Tokyo Underground)
01/22/18 • -1 min
This is a live set played at the party Space Dock at Jam House, Akita Japan on January 19th, 2018. The set is completely improvised, and recorded raw (so forgive the hum of some too-hot lead cables!) My equipment for this set was:
- ipad running Elastic Drums (drum machine), Trouble Maker (303 emulator), Launchpad (pad sounds, effects), Audiobus (routing), MiMiX (app mixer)
- iphone 8 Plus, running Audiobus Remote (remote control for ipad apps)
- Korg Nanokontrol II (midi controller linked to Elastic Drums

Tokyo Metro Vol. 27 (Live and Global Disco)
Tokyo Metro (Deep, Dark Sounds from the Tokyo Underground)
10/04/18 • -1 min
This set was played live at the Global Disco event at Jam House, Akita Japan in July 2018. Keeping with the theme of "disco," yet also being who I am, I took the mix in an electro direction (think more early 80's than 70's!) Everything was performed with an iPad Pro and Novation Launchpad. Specifically, my equipment used was:
Software:
1. Korg Gadget was used to program the bass and synth sounds in advance, tediously learning the various parts of the remixed tracks - such as the iconic bassline in Smooth Criminal (see below).
2. Blocs Wave was where all the samples were imported to and arranged.
3. Launchpad iOS was the destination of the samples after Blocs, where they could be mapped to the hardware controller and triggered. In addition to the various samples for the remixes, I loaded three full tracks (my own) to three pads and used them to fill out the set and transition between the live remixes.
Hardware:
1. iPad Pro
2. Novation Launchpad S controller
3. Zoom U-44 mixer/soundcard
Tracks:
1. Productive Price - DJ Chris Hale (unreleased track)
2. I Feel Love - Donna Summer (live remix)
3. Sweet Dreams are made of this (Holly Henry acapella vocals) - Eurythmics (live remix)
4. Extreme Man - DJ Chris Hale (unreleased track)
5. Down Deeper - Fearious Black (live remix)
6. Smooth Criminal - Michael Jackson (live remix)
7. Significant Bob - DJ Chris Hale

Tokyo Metro Vol. 30 (Techno Vinyl Set by Naoki Takahashi)
Tokyo Metro (Deep, Dark Sounds from the Tokyo Underground)
12/03/18 • -1 min
Back by popular demand, here is a banging all vinyl mix by Naoki Takahashi (also known as DJ 2017 - Onani). Naoki and I played many parties together over the years, mainly in and around Ibaraki Prefecture in the mid 2000's, and his Tokyo Metro Mix he did for me years ago (back when the show streamed live on Pulse Radio) gained a loyal following. So happy to have him back in mix.
No tracklisting, but I'm sure the true techno heads will recognize some of these bangers. You can follow Naoki on Youtube, where you can also see him perform this mix. You can also find him on Mixcloud.
