Ever wondered what it’s like to reignite a friendship over a shared love for classic cars? Meet Chris, a car enthusiast living on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, who found an unlikely camaraderie with our past guest, James McCrea, over their mutual admiration for the Porsche 911. Listen as Chris transports us to his East German roots, where he was gifted a Wartburg by his grandmother—a car that became a symbol of cherished memories and unique challenges. Together, we’re back after a short break, and excited to connect with our expanding podcast audience.
Chris’s story is more than just about cars; it’s about the journey and the bonds forged along the way. We'll explore his daring restoration of a mustard yellow Wartburg in Florida, a sentimental nod to his first car. As he opens up about the joys and quirks of owning such an unconventional vehicle, Chris invites listeners to witness his eclectic car collection. We also detour into the thrill of driving on Germany's Autobahn and the meticulous engineering that makes these high-speed adventures possible, while reminiscing about the Ford Probe and its place in automotive history.
Shifting gears, discover how Chris’s business initiative in Finland supports environmental conservation through rewilding efforts. From a green Singer 911 to reintroducing wildlife, our conversation proves that passion for cars can also drive meaningful change. As we wrap up, we celebrate the dynamics of car-loving couples like Amy and John, inviting listeners to share their own stories and connections. Whether you're an enthusiast or just beginning your journey, join us as we celebrate the cars—and the people—that shape our lives. Happy driving!

In episode 3 of "To All The Cars I've Loved Before," Tim Cokeley shares the stories of his first car, a 1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo which was driven by a little lady to church on Sundays.
Tim tells us how he had the fortune to acquire his second car from his sister, a 1979 Plymouth Horizon TC3, which required a new clutch to make it roadworthy. Being an early front wheel drive car required pulling the engine, so Tim resorted to Chilton's Car Repair manuals to figure it out - remember this was a time before the Internet and YouTube.
He rounds out the trio with an 1991 Isuzu Trooper II, wishing he had never parted ways with and shares how he dealt with a bad ignition switch using a trick inspired by his own father.

Lincoln Lawyer? Whatever. Matthew McCaughney has nothing on this legal eagle, Eric. Check out his first three automotive conquests: a British racing green Triumph TR-7 (James Bond is green with envy), Porsche 914 (the original VW crossover!), and a Cadillac CTS (never trust a lawyer not in a Caddy). Ever wondered how a simple car could shape a family's bond and individual passions? This week on "All the Cars I've Loved Before," we're joined by a guest who's near and dear to us —Christian's sister Danielle, or Dee, as she's affectionately known. Dee unpacks the origin of her nickname and shares some of her most cherished family stories. Despite the usual sibling teasing, the episode underscores the strong familial ties that have been strengthened through a shared love of cars.
Listen to the heartwarming story of Dee's first car, a white 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity. This wasn't just any car; it was a gift from her tough but loving mother that symbolized trust and independence. Listen to the hilarious and heartfelt tales of teenage rebellion, like Dee’s unforgettable performance of Madonna's "Material Girl" at a strict Catholic school.
As we move forward, the episode explores the trials and triumphs of learning to drive stick shift in a green 1996 Honda Civic, and the eventual upgrade to a silver 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe. Danielle gets emotional discussing her red 2006 Honda Accord, a gift from her late mother that carries sentimental value with every mile. We also have a good laugh over Christian's past ride, the brown 1984 Buick Skyhawk, which he tried to transform into a masterpiece with Mardi Gras beads and even a skull. These narratives highlight the deep emotional connections and unforgettable memories tied to these cars, making this episode a heartfelt celebration of family and the vehicles that have been part of the journey.
