Tiniest of Seeds

Tiniest of Seeds

Laurine Decker

"He told me all that I ever did." - the Samaritan woman in John 4:39
Yes, life is messy and integration of Jesus and faith with life often doesn’t look like what we thought it was “supposed” to or think it "should" look like. Are we shocked? We are literally told by Jesus that this life is full of trials. Yet we as we show up we can heal and grow in ALL God promises. He has after all, overcome. We can too.
He saved me. I can’t say it more clearly than that. Yes, Jesus has proven to me to be the ultimate answer. Has it been easy? No. It’s been 25 years of a winding road that he has made straight. As I continue to walk it out, I can’t help but testify - and to talk with others in their own unique places on the discipleship road. How amazing.
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21

The quest for soundness of mind and health of body is age old. These days, we are inundated by information that has gotten ever more vast and can seem ever more complicated. Be encouraged to know it can become more and more simple. Don't hear me say it is easy or that there are quick "fix-its", but after seeking to control our mind and health, today's guest, Janet Massey and I are learning the power of the Word of Truth in conjunction with kind movement and looking to Jesus. It has been absolutely transformational. Consider Hebrews 12:1-4 and Romans 12:1-2. In both scriptures, we are given keys to unlocking our well being!
With a doctorate in Physical Therapy and a whole lot of life experience with physical limitations and the connection of wellness and faith, Janet has knowledge and expertise that is encouraging and enlightening. In today's episode, Janet shares a bit of her story which is truly remarkable, and practical and simple thoughts about how to move toward more wellness in mind, soul, and body. We are meant to live in wholeness in Christ.
We chat a little bit about all sorts of things that you've probably heard about - somatics, lymph massage, meditation, breathing. We touch on a lot of things that can be overwhelming and can often put us into either an avoidant or over functioning state! Yes, there is a lot of good science, but the methods and opinions and information seem endless right now. We talk about how intentional stress exposure, such as the shock of cold-water immersion, can teach our bodies to remain composed under pressure, and how such practices, coupled with faith, can fortify our capability to heal and grow. This episode sheds light on the often-overlooked connection between physical discomfort, spiritual strength, and the art of remaining present through life's challenges.

Forgiveness is truly the most powerful avenue for a life of fullness and goodness - our best, most free and joyful and holy lives for God's glory and our good! Forgiveness is vital and brings a depth of freedom and release and connection that are indescribable. Join Laurine and her friend Katy Krippaehne as they talk about some of the complex layers of forgiveness and the transformative, difficult and ongoing process it can be.
We share heartfelt stories and reflect on scriptures like the Lord's Prayer and Colossians 3, and explore the all too often tug-of-war between the Christian command to forgive and the emotional readiness to do so.
We talk about the importance of compassion not only for others but for ourselves, and the recognition that taking time to receive love and deep forgiveness and a sense of worth isn't selfish but necessary for genuine spiritual growth.

"High Places" are areas that we haven't allowed God's healing to touch and haven't surrendered. Often, this is because we don't know what they are because we are not positioning ourselves to hear what God has to say about them. If there is ANY place you are not seeing the truth of what God and the Word says is yours in Christ, there just might be a "high place" you have been given the authority in Jesus name to tear down.
As children of God, we often stop short of receiving the true gift of our salvation. It really is possible to walk in the joy and peace and victory and assurance we are told are ours. And, to take it even a step further, not only told we can, commanded to do! It's not a pipe dream. It can be reality. Does this mean we will always feel it? Does it mean it's not a battle? No, we are given some pretty violent language in the Bible as to what it takes to walk in this truth. Demolish. Take captive. Tear down. Suffer. Pick up your cross. Leave father, mother, sister, brother. These are just a few examples.
No wonder we are often not walking in the "more" promised. It takes perseverance and practice to continue to show up and actually surrender all and receive what he has promised. Surrender and receiving isn't something as disciples of Jesus we can do just here and there when we feel desperate. We are are meant for journey in deeper and deeper love and surrender.

Join J.D. (Jeff) Peabody, the author of "Perfectly Suited: The Armor of God for the Anxious Mind, Kate Henderson and Laurine Decker, your host, as we talk about what the armor of God means for those who battle OCD or anxiety. This episode is an invitation to discover the strength and grace available to you as you lean on God to don the spiritual armor won for you by Christ.
Have you ever considered the armor of God as a symbol of care and vulnerability, rather than mere strength and toughness? This episode offers a fresh perspective on the armor of God and its potential to assist in overcoming anxiety. We explore how sinking into God's protection and accepting His grace can provide relief from the pressures of striving to be independently strong.
We discuss the transformative power of faith and vulnerability. Our chat highlights the importance of the belt of truth, a crucial component of the armor, and its role in helping us stay resilient irrespective of external circumstances. We also explore the notion that sometimes, growth means things getting worse before they improve. The journey towards growth and freedom might be challenging, but knowing that you're standing in God's armor can make it a little less daunting. Come join us in this enlightening exploration of faith, vulnerability, and growth.

Ever felt like you're navigating the crazy terrain of life and comfort is elusive? Well, we're right there with you! Maybe you don’t even know or can’t quite identify what comfort exactly might look like for you. It's certainly new for me. I have found a lot of comfort through addictive patterns and coping mechanisms. Although they can “work” for a time, eventually we need to let them go in order to have the peace and joy and love we are promised.
Join my dear friend Lanette and me as we process the critical role comfort plays to walk in the “more” promised us by God. We share stories of healing, personal discoveries, and challenges we've overcome as we have purposed to press into deeper levels of intimacy with one another and our families.
We process some real and recent practice with ourselves and our kids. We take a moment to slow down, invite comfort through our faith, and extend that comfort to others in the face of adversity. I think no matter where you’re at and what you're wrestling with, this episode offers hope and insights that can help in the journey.

Are you striving to surrender more in your faith? Guest Kari Levang and I realize how often we fail to recognize God's steadfastness and find ourselves trying to be the steadfast ones. How about a shift in perspective - from working harder to surrendering more and relying on God's unwavering love and mercy. We dive into the concept of HIS rest and how it provides peace and confidence and direction in our lives.
We also take a look at the impact of God's steadfast love on our relationships. As we experience his love firsthand, we increase in our ability to give and receive love with those we are in relationship with. Kari and I have practiced this a lot and can attest to the long and hard but worthwhile journey. We share some of our personal story and experiences, and chat about the crucial role of community in our growth as disciples of Jesus.
Join us as we challenge ourselves to remain firm in the Lord's strength, identify the enemy's tactics, and stand unshaken during difficult times. Jesus sure embodied this by the power of the Spirit! We hope that our journey of recognizing God's unwavering love, mercy, and strength inspires you to tap into these divine gifts to overcome your challenges and live a fulfilling life.

Tiniest of Seeds - Holy Spirit: God’s Power Within Us?!
play

The Holy Spirit is the person of the Trinity that is the least talked about (or in some cases over-emphasized)! We can be certain that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom and love and that the Lord God is glorified!
Will you consider the prayer "Lord God, thank you that through Jesus Christ and his salvation, I have been given the Spirit to guide and teach me. Lors, instruct me by your Spirit as I want to learn more about you."
Revelation, knowledge and power are given through the Spirit! When we know the Word of God, we are able to "test the spirits" as it tells us in 1 John4:1 so that we are not misled but stay true to the gospel of love. Jesus, when he was glorified, SEALED those who believe in him with the Holy Spirit. The deposit of the Spirit is within us! Yes, there is mystery - after all God is God and we are not - and we see through a glass darkly, but the cool part is that we are equipped through his power, not our own! What a relief. We show up to ask and receive. The instruction, conviction, comfort and revelation of knowledge of Christ are through the Spirit Jesus left with us to counsel and guide us into truth. (John 14:16-17, John 16:7, John 7:38-39 and more.)

Our good and faithful creator, who knows exactly how we were created and what we actually need for our ultimate best wants to lovingly show us! The only way to the deepest, truest, most joyful version of ourselves is through our identity in Christ. The Tiniest of Seeds Podcast began as a partnership called Breathe in Him between twin sisters, Laurine and Autumn who quit their jobs to go into full time ministry together in the pursuit of mind, soul, and body wellness in Christ. The Breathe In Him season is over, but this introduction still rings true. This is a brief introduction to Laurine and Autumn and a framework to hang future episodes on. Even though now the podcast is hosted just by Laurine, the principles and beliefs that were pursued during our time working together still resonate!
