Thriving Stylist Podcast

Thriving Stylist Podcast

Britt Seva

The beauty industry has changed dramatically in the last 10 years. The days of hoping your good reputation and referrals was enough to grow or maintain your clientele died out and successful stylists today need a real marketing strategy. It's actually never been easier to grow a clientele as a hair stylist or a business as a salon owner, yet stylists are giving up or struggling more often than they are thriving in this incredible industry. When I was first building my clientele, I realized immediately that nobody was teaching true business skills and long term strategies to stylists or salon owners. What good is a license and an entrepreneurial passion without the skills and knowledge to actually make big things happen? The Thriving Stylist podcast is a collection of interviews from super successful but not yet famous stylists, one-on-one coaching opportunities and actionable, strategic marketing techniques that you can use in your business today to see real results. I'm Britt Seva, Social Media & Marketing Strategist for Hair Stylists and I look forward to helping you to create a wealthy life as a stylist.

Thriving Stylist Podcast - Best of: #331 - The Pricing Crisis and How We Got Here
play

12/23/24 • 23 min

As we are right in the midst of the busy holiday season, the Thrivers team and I are releasing two “Best of” episodes rather than our usual fresh content to wrap up 2024. Today, we’re replaying a popular episode we first brought you in April of 2024, where I talked more about “The Great Divide” and the pricing crisis we’ve found ourselves in, along with the important things to keep in mind as we operate our businesses in today’s environment.

As we head into a brand new year, we invite you to take the time to listen back to these special replay episodes and ask yourself if you've already implemented everything shared in them. If you're anything like me, you often listen, get inspired, but you don't always take action. So this is an opportunity to instead of learning more stuff, take the time to ask yourself what you have heard but haven't completely dialed in just yet. This is a great time to look at your brand and your business, identify the areas you don't usually have time for or have convinced yourself are good enough as we head into 2025, and to start thinking about how you want this new year to look for you.

If you haven’t yet listened to it, I encourage you to tune into our #354 - The 2025 Predictions Podcast to see what I see coming for our industry in the near future, and we’ll see you back here next week!

play

04/21/25 • 21 min

Have you ever felt the sting of a competitor trying to snatch your hard-earned clients? Are you battling the creeping fear of what I refer to as "Ninja Turtle" stylists who undercut your prices and poach your loyal clientele? Even if it’s something that you may not have experienced yet I want to talk about it, because it is becoming a very real trend in this industry.

In this episode, I break it all down and discuss the client poaching trend, what it means and how to handle it. If you’re ready to stop playing defense and start building your kingdom, then what I share today will help you turn wannabes into irrelevant noise and cultivate a clientele that can't be stolen!

With Grow My Clientele Calculator, you’ll get instant clarity on how many new clients you’ll need to hit your 2025 financial goals! Enter just four numbers, and this tool will show you exactly how many new guests you need monthly and yearly to reach your target income. No guesswork or complicated math required, and you can get it now at www.thrivingstylist.com/growmyclientele/!

Several months back I did an episode about the looming recession that will be hitting our industry like it hits others, and yes, it’s happening. One of my amazing Thrivers, Caitlin Lozano, reached out to me a few weeks back and she explained to me how she is seeing the effects of the impending recession, and she agreed to do an interview with me about it.

Today I’m sharing Caitlin’s thoughts as she explains what she’s experienced with her salon’s clientele. I hope you listen closely, because Caitlin is somebody who is an incredibly accomplished stylist and has built a beautiful salon and team, and she reveals a lot of insight in this one. If you take the lessons that Caitlin has learned in adapting her brand, it’s going to give you a leg up and advantage as you navigate this recession too!

If you have a question for me that you’d like answered in a future episode, a great way to do that is to head over to Apple Podcasts and leave a rating and review with your question. I’m looking forward to doing more of these types of episodes on the podcast!
