Thoughts Unboxed

To celebrate International Women's Day 2022 last week, we were really excited to record the Thoughts Unboxed podcast. It was brilliant to be joined by Laura, our Senior Content Designer, Rosanna, one of our Senior Delivery Managers, Kassie, our story teller and researcher and developer Rhian Lewis who left Unboxed a few months ago to pursue her dreams, but remains firmly a part of the Unboxed family.

Service design projects, particularly within local government, are not isolated pieces of work. In this episode Martyn Evans, Head of Products, Ali Blake, Designer and Tom Gayler, Designer, discuss the factors outside of our control, like time and funding which can influence the success of a project. We are very excited to be launching our first podcast, Thoughts Unboxed! In this conversation we are talking about the intriguing topic of boreout. It’s something that we hadn’t really heard about until Rosanna, our Delivery Manager, talked about having some experience of it in a previous role. Once we got talking we realised that we have probably all had experiences of feeling bored, undervalued or disengaged in our workplaces and how uncomfortable that can be. We’re no doubt all familiar with burnout and what that means for our wellbeing, but we discovered that boreout has pretty much the same negative effect on our physical and mental health.

We are celebrating International Women’s Day 2023 with another Thoughts Unboxed Podcast. The conversation this year included Rosanna and Shaneek, our delivery managers. Celia, one of our developers. Emily, our Operations Manager and
Vicky People and Wellbeing.
This year’s theme is #EmbraceEquity and we talked about what this means to each of us on both a personal and professional level.
