This Just Anime!

This week we're back on our romcom bullshit and discussing why we think More Than a Married Couple But Not Lovers isn't nearly as good as it maybe could've been. We are the self proclaimed romcom experts, so maybe we're extra critical of this series, we're gonna get into it so you can be the judge. From there we got some exciting news that Crucnhyroll is getting a whole slew of anime films added to their library on December 15th so Nick has put together his own list of fantastic anime films that aren't made by Hayao Miyazaki, some of which will soon be available to stream. And finally it continues to be a Kill La Kill Christmas! We're through episode 12 of our anime advent calendar so we're going in depth on the battle between the Honnouji Acadamy Elite four and the surprise appearance of a girl with twin tails and a scissor blade to match.

That's right not only are we giving you our review of Makoto Shinkai's newest work, Suzume, we're also covering the Kaguya-Sama movie that dropped a couple of weeks ago. I think it's pretty obvious we were enthused about both Suzume and Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War- The First Kiss That Never Ends, but did they live up to the hype? We'll let you know. We also have the remainder of first impressions for everything for this season except the two titles that haven't dropped yet in this episode. Winter is over, snow is melting, and we have a whole new crop of anime popping up to sample. This week we're going over a whole bunch of first impressions that Nick conveniently sorted into promising premiers, jury is still out, and disappointing starts. Our general outlook on the season is strong, we have some promising fantasy titles (for once) as well as a whole bunch of slice of life and romcoms to get us excited about, we also have a good few shows with weird totally out there concepts that may prove to be some of our favorites. We'll be going over a whole crop of things fairly quickly and then the other half of the season next week, before bringing it all together for one big Powercast in two weeks. The Quintessential Quintuplets has officially concluded and we were there in person to see how it ends! We had a lovely time seeing the end to Cory's favorite series, but our journey to the theater was maybe not as smooth as it could've been. We've got our take one how everything concluded as well as our somewhat amusing attempt at making it to a 2pm showing of the film. From there we're talking everything from new movies on Crunchyroll to trading card games before rounding out the episode with our Kill La Kill advent calendar. This week we're looking at the first 8 episodes of the series that made everyone aware of how dangerous clothes can really be. Apologies for the weird schedule this week, we'll be back to normal soon we promise!

This week in our newly streamlined formula we're just talking about one thing, Blue Giant. It's an anime film about you guessed it, jazz, which came out a while ago but is finally available to stream this month. With the director of Mob Pschyo 100 at the helm and music by Hiromi Uehara, we were pretty excited to see this one. But did it live up to the hype? Sort of... it's complicated which is why we did a whole review for you to enjoy. We'll be back to more seasonal focused content soon, but for now let us know what you thought of Blue Giant.
