A 2004 Christianity Today article dubbed Max Lucado as “America’s Pastor.” Max has been a pastor for over four decades and has written over 50 books that have sold millions and millions of copies worldwide. Naturally, I was a bit floored when Max reached out to me and wanted to know if he’d be willing to talk with me on my podcast. Of course I said yes! We talked about lots of things related to the current state of the church, how to cultivate longevity and vibrancy in ministry, doing ministry in a post-Christian culture, church and politics, and his most recent book Help Is Here: Finding Fresh Strength and Purpose in the Power of the Holy Spirit.

Jeremy Stephens is one of the founding leaders of Tampa Underground, a gospel-centered ecclesiological network that’s home to over 100 microchurches (small missional communities) in the Tampa Bay area and 15 city-wide sister movements across the world. Currently, Jeremy is the director of the Underground's International Department. He previously has been a missionary with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and the Associate Director for the Underground in Tampa. Jeremy resides in the inner-city of Tampa with 4 kids and one wife.

In this conversation, Jeremy and I talk about all things church-related. What’s his model? How does it work? What’s his advice for the border Christian church in America? And many more things.

Greg Lukianoff is the co-author (with Dr. Jonathan Haidt) of what I think is one of the top 5 most important books of the last decade: The Coddling of the American Mind: How Good Ideas and Bad Intentions Are Setting Up a Generation for Failure. In this conversation, I talk to Greg about the content of this book including the rise of safetyism, the diminishing of free speech on college campuses, the concept of anti-fragility, whether ideas are harmful, whether is healthy or damaging to “platform” ideas you disagree with, whether speech is violence, whether safe spaces on campuses are helping students, and whether trigger warnings help improve a person’s mental heath.

A graduate of American University and Stanford Law School, Greg Lukianoff is an attorney and the president of the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) and the author of Unlearning Liberty: Campus Censorship and the End of American Debate and his writing has appeared in The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Boston Globe, in addition to dozens of other publications.

Matt Chandler is a pastor, speaker, and writer. He’s been pastoring The Village Church in Texas for 18 years and is the president of Acts29. In this podcast, we talk about how he’s handled the last couple of years of politics and Covid--and all the polarization that comes with this.

Theology in the Raw Conference - Exiles in Babylon At the Theology in the Raw conference, we will be challenged to think like exiles about race, sexuality, gender, critical race theory, hell, transgender identities, climate change, creation care, American politics, and what it means to love your democratic or republican neighbor as yourself. Different views will be presented. No question is off limits. No political party will be praised. Everyone will be challenged to think. And Jesus will be upheld as supreme.

Faith, Sexuality, and Gender Conference - Live in Boise or Stream Online

In the all-day conference, Dr. Preston Sprinkle dives deep into the theological, relational, and ministry-related questions that come up in the LGBTQ conversation.

Dan Kimball is the author of several books on leadership, church, and culture. He was one of the founders of Vintage Faith Church in Santa Cruz, California where he still serves on staff. He is also a faculty member at Western Seminary and leads the ReGeneration Project, which exists to equip and encourage new generations to think theologically and participate in the mission of the church. He has a master’s degree from Western Seminary and a doctorate degree from George Fox University.

In this conversation, we talk about pastoring in a super progressive city, why people are deconstructing at a seemingly higher rate than before, what unbelievers think of Christianity, the need for intellectually honest missional theology, and why loving our neighbors is so crucial to the gospel.

Dr. Juli Slattery is a clinical psychologist, author, speaker and the president/co-founder of Authentic Intimacy. Juli earned her college degree at Wheaton College, an MA in psychology from Biola University, and an MS and a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Florida Institute of Technology.
In this podcast conversation, I talk to Juli about her latest book God, Sex, and Your Marriage, which leads into a quite raw conversation about sex, good sex, bad sex, sexual abuse, female sexuality, sexual identities, and much more. This conversation is tasteful and theologically rich, and it is also quite explicit at times (as any authentic conversation should be).
