Jori Hanna: Author/Editor/Literary Agent
05/19/20 • 54 min
My co-host today is the amazing and incredibly talented, Miss Jori Hanna. Jori is an author, publishing consultant, literary agent, and freelance assistant from Denver, Colorado, who, from the time she began reading in the second grade, developed a love for books and the writing process which led her to attend Taylor University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Professional Writing. While studying at Taylor, she discovered a love for suspense, crime, thrillers, and mystery novels. She enjoys anything that allows her to pretend she could be a spy (such as a weapons class at the dojo she where she studied Karate, excuses to dress up and meet people, and random facts that may never be useful in normal, everyday life).
After graduating college, she discovered a love for tabletop role-playing games, for many of the same reasons she loves anything else that lets her play a part in a story, and she is passionate about helping others achieve their highest potential—either through teaching the skills necessary for success in publishing or by coming alongside to assist however she can through her services offered on her website. Be sure to check out Jori’s website and connect with her on almost any social media as @authorjjhanna.

Author Bryan Quinn
On this episode, I talk with author Bryan Quinn. Bryan shares some great insight into his writing and editing process and how to do proper research for writing your best novel.
Bryan Russell Quinn is the award-winning Canadian author of the world-rattling international thriller THE PACKAGE.
Quinn graduated from McGill University with a degree in history, after which he did a brief stint in the publishing industry, working for TimeLife Books and Rodale Press.
He returned to school to earn a Computer Electronics Diploma from Herzing College so he could find employment in the burgeoning technology sector. Employed as a technical writer in the software computer industry, he composed software user manuals for a variety of high-tech companies.
In January 2014, done with corporate servitude, Quinn embarked on an independent career as a fiction author.
He struck gold with his first novel; "The Package" published in January 2019 (second edition February 2020), four-and-a-half years after he began writing it.
A 2016 Writer Digest's Short Story Honorable Awards winner, Quinn has two more novels, STONY RIVER and NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED, in the publishing pipeline as well as a short story anthology CHOICES.

Author Luke Murphy
In this episode of The Writing Community Podcast, I chat with author Luke Murphy. Luke is a former professional hockey player turned adult fiction author. While recovering from a career-ending eye injury he sustained on the ice rink in the winter of 2000, Luke passed the time by reading books by some of his favorite authors, such as Greg Isles, Michael Connelly, and others.
According to Luke's website, "One day, with an idea in mind, he sat down at a computer and began writing. Murphy wrote a little every day, around an intense rehabilitation schedule, and before he knew it he had completed his first manuscript." From 2000 to 2007, Luke worked to hone his craft and find his own voice. He continued reading and writing and made connections with other authors to help develop his skill.
In 2007 Luke began work on, "Dead Man's Hand". To do research for his novel, he traveled back and forth to Las Vegas, Nevada to learn the in's and out's of police procedure with the Las Vegas police department. In 2012, Luke hired the Jennifer Lyons Literary Agency and signed a contract with Imajin Books to publish Dead Man's Hand.
Murphy has since published three more novels. "Wild Card" which features the main character, Calvin Watters, is the sequel to Dead Man's Hand while "Kiss and Tell" and "Rock-A-Bye Baby" are the first and second books in his Charlene Taylor series.
All of Luke Murphy's books can be purchased on Amazon.
