I LOVE Paddy's Day, but this year has been a little "hectic" - that doesn't mean that we won't find a way to celebrate together (with the help of 'Producer dAvId' - who's gotten a little bit of an upgrade.

What resulted was... well... interesting.

I fully intended to talk about drinking during the Christmas season, but after being sidelined early on with one of my kids... it all went off the rails (as usual).

Holy smokes... I've known about this spot for a long time, and even tried a few of their products - but have never actually bellied up to see what it's all about for myself. We'll talk about it, try some fun wine, and maybe even rant about some local beer stores that might not deserve my beer money anymore.

If you're new to The Weekly Pint - this isn't just a podcast, it's a live show - a happy hour - and an excuse for us to drink together. If you want to participate PROPERLY, you should tune in on either Facebook or YouTube every Monday night around 9:30pm!

In this week's episode of The Weekly Pint, we dive headfirst into the chaos that makes our happy hour gatherings so special. We kicked off the show with a shoutout to MadTree for their fantastic gift packs and the exciting Psych Night event on September 20th. Then, we shifted gears to a crowd-sourced Oktoberfest beer showdown, pitting High Grain's Meadow against Streetside's Fest Beer. After a tough decision, High Grain emerged victorious, and we celebrated by blending the two beers into a delightful cuvée.

The episode also featured an in-depth discussion about the current state of beer festivals and the challenges faced by local breweries in competing with big chains like Applebee's. We touched on the importance of creating unique, community-focused events and the need to adapt to changing consumer preferences. Marco from Truth Beer and Podsequences called in to share his insights, adding another layer to our conversation about the evolving craft beer landscape.

Finally, we wrapped up with a comprehensive review of recent label approvals, highlighting exciting new releases from local breweries like Rhinegeist, Urban Artifact, and March First. From canned cocktails to innovative new beers, there's plenty to look forward to in the coming months. Stay tuned for more exciting episodes, and don't forget to check out Cincy Beer Week for upcoming events. Cheers!

The Weekly Pint - I Think That's All The Bock I Can Drink For A While
play

03/11/25 • 79 min

This week, The Weekly Pint focuses heavily on Bockfest and how you should best experience the three-day festival. With that said... we are NOT drinking bock on the show. Instead, I dove into some peppermint schnapps, cracked open a Dogfish Head beer, and mixed up a little cuvee with beer and a canned cocktail.

It's a great example of why the 'Show That Isn't A Show' is so much fun!

West Coast IPA - it used to get beer drinkers talking because they were shocked by it's bold personality. Today, it gets people talking because so few places are making them, and some of the ones that are making soft, hazy versions of the style that just AREN'T West Coast IPAs. I crack open a new one from MadTree to see if they've done it justice. I talked about breweries here in town that are ten years old... and way older and a drink something from Shaq that is in cardboard.

Yep. That all sounds right for The Weekly Pint!

The Weekly Pint - Sorry, I've Been Busy Eating Meat And Not Showering
play

We're back from a great long weekend of camping with the family - which means things are a little "out of sorts" around the house (when are they not?)

On this week's episode, I had the live audience choose a beer for me, although - when I was disappointed with their choice, we all called an audible and switched things up. After a long process of trying to figure out how old my beer was... we finally dove into the news of the week.

Seltzer Smash is back at March First - and I wanted to make sure you knew about it for all your 'Fizzhead' friends that need to get their seltzer fix.

In addition, there are some new breweries under construction around town that I felt we needed an update about.

To wrap it up - we had plenty of label approvals that were prime for some quick discussion.

The Weekly Pint is more than a live show that airs on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter every Monday evening around 9:30 pm - it's a happy hour where we all get together over a drink and talk about life. Sure, we talk about Cincinnati Beer news, crazy regional and national booze news, and big things that are happening in the world - but at its core, it's an excuse to hang out with friends.

The Weekly Pint - Some Days You Feel Like You're Just Not Ready

If you remember, back to the Spring of 2023, things started out hectic - it started with a pretty crappy website crash that led me to take a month off to rebuild, recoup and relaunch everything. Some weeks, some months, some years, are just... chaotic.

This is one of those weeks!

The Weekly Pint - Spring Has Sprung, And I'm Thirsty!
play

This week's episode of the weekly pint starts a little rough because I'm a doofus. I hit the button WAY before I was ready to go live, so I got to start the show flustered, which is always fun...

We hit the ground running, though, as I cracked open a crowd-chosen can of Seventh Son's Tuk Tuk lager (which was great) and dove right into some label approvals for a few bourbons that you might want to keep your eyes open for in the near future.

From there, we talk about my recent experiences at my first FCC game - and how I screwed up the entire drinking experience there. We talked about some upcoming food in taprooms and how we all collectively saved one of our local breweries from closing (go us!)

It's a whirlwind of a show that I'm still recovering from... I think you'll like listening as much as I did making it!
