Welcome back to the kitchen table! This week Bethany is joined by her husband Troy as they share their journey together through all the different ages and stages with their own kids.

Troy walks with us today through his perspective on the toddler, preschool, middle school, and tween years.

Bethany and Troy share some of their challenges from each stage and how they have overcome those. They are reminding us today that while we want to raise good kids, we really should be focusing on raising kids that love Jesus. When rules are broken, we don’t want to see this just as a time to correct that behavior. Instead, we want to focus on learning what our child’s sin tendency was that cause that behavior, where they are with God in their life, and use that broken rule as a means to bring the Gospel alive in their life.

In our teenagers we see they are striving more for independence and starting to make some decisions for themselves. It can be easy to start worrying if we have prepared them well for the world they are about to face! Welcome back to the kitchen table!

This week Bethany is sitting down with Troy again to talk about their experiences in the teen years. Specifically, how do we share the gospel with kids in this age in a way that will be beneficial to them.

Whether we like it or not, they will be getting ready to soon leave the home. We can only pray that we have trained and equipped them to handle the world they are going out to. Most importantly, we want to know that their faith can withstand the struggles they will face in life. This is the point in their life where their faith may not always make things easy, and choosing Jesus could start costing them things like friends or popularity.

We have to ensure our children know how to continually choose Jesus in every situation and seek out his wisdom.

Because when mom and dad aren’t there anymore, it’s just them and God. We have to know they are prepared for that.
