Segue into Season 3: GROWING UP PUNJABI!

This podcast is an attempt to explore my intense curiosity about anything and everything. So, I also want to talk about anything and everything. It is a North Indian nobody’s story, yet it could be something of everybody’s. From growing up in the pre-liberalization India of the 80s and 90s, in a crazy Sikh family, I couldn’t have asked for a broader or more fun spectrum of experiences to recount. And recount I intend to. This whimsical, zigzagging life o' mine, served with a large helping of self-deprecation, a smattering of unavoidable sarcasm, some honesty and lots of laughs at my own expense, I hope. Gravitas, if you will, with an extremely light touch. Happy listening! While Season One was stories from my struggle with the debilitating Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS); Season Two was all about my experiments with online dating and dating apps, with a couple of viewpoints thrown in! About this episode: Growing up Punjabi - Well Sardaron ke bachche (Sikh kids) are in a league of their own. You’d see what I mean if you look around you - in ads and lines that have been made famous in advertisements and/ or movies by a Surdy or Punjabi kid. I’m here to tell you stories from my childhood in a Surdy-Punjabi household, surrounded by the craziness that only Punjabis can bring to any situation. It’s no wonder all three of us siblings have been labelled “dramebaaz” (melodramatic), with my nearly-seven-year-old niece following merrily in the footsteps of her very Sikh father and Punjabi mother. This is a tribute to all the mad little Surdy bachchas I grew up with! You guys rock.
