The Travel Addict - Here I go again: Off-the-beaten-path in the World's oldest desert.

Here I go again: Off-the-beaten-path in the World's oldest desert.

The Travel Addict

When I mentioned that I was going to the country of Namibia to spend time in the world's oldest desert, people asked questions such as, "Where is that?", "Why?", "Are you crazy?"
I somewhat expected that.
After a 15 hour flight from ATL - JNB and then a 2 hour flight to WDH, I was in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.
I hired a driver for the 5 hour trip to the Desert Hills Lodge in the Namib Desert, which has been there for 55 million years.
Breathtaking scenery kept my GoPro camera busy.
I climbed the world's highest sand dune, took a ride in a hot air balloon, became isolated on the top of a mountain, climbed into a canyon, saw several native animals, and enjoyed the magnificent sunsets.
Remember these names. Better still, search on Google and YouTube:

  • Sossusvlei
  • Deadvlei
  • Namib Desert
  • Sesriem Canyon

It is a unique place on our wonderful planet and needs to be on your travel bucket list. I will have YouTube videos posted soon.
In my quest to do as much as I can before I throw in the towel, this was well worth the time and effort.
Memories of a life time.

The Joys of Cruise Vacations. Expert Greg Stamm talks about virtually everything you need to know about sailing the high seas.

For many years now, Greg Stamm has been traveling the world via cruise ships (50+ trips and counting), and his book, "Come Cruise with Me In A Post-COVID World", shares his insight into what cruising is like post-COVID (hint: it's still the best, safest, and most luxurious vacation a person can take). After taking over 50 cruises, you learn a thing or two about how to do a cruise vacation the right way, and the way of life on a ship.
As an expert cruiser and recently retired attorney, he provides an insight on cruising, especially post-COVID, and help those who are looking to plan a cruise vacation as well as answer any questions regarding the cruise industry.
I had to ask the question, "Why don't you live on a cruise ship?"
