Wine Journalism the Stacy Briscoe way!

Stacy Brsiscoe didn't set out to be a wine journalist when she got out of college with a degree in American Literature, but as often happens, wine found her! She tells Mike about slowly building a wine writing career on multiple platforms; the first time she really "got it" when drinking wine - there were lots of people around; about how she takes the sometimes "dry" business side of the wine world and makes it interesting (it's all about finding the people!); and what to avoid when taking a wine-drinking selfie. The two also sip and chat about a couple of deliciuos wines, discuss Stacy's former life as a personal trainer and her early years studying with the Jesuits! How can you not want to listen?

Mike is BACK after a somewhat unintended break, which he explains before getting into a great conversation with best-selling author Boo Walker. Boo is from South Carolina, and now lives in Maine. Somewhere in between he lived on Red Mountain in Washington State and embeded himself into the wine community. This inspired his book series "The Red Mountain Chronicles". Hear how an aspiring banjo player ended up writing stories about wine people, and what else Boo Walker has been writing.

Getting Caught Up with Aditi Roy! (after 20 years)
The TallMikeWine Podcast

Back in the early 2000's Mike was living in Spokane Washington, just out of radio and into restaurant/wine work. Aditi Roy was there too, a TV News reporter who later would work for ABC News and CNBC. They knew some of the same people and hung out once in a while. A lot of years have passed but NOW they both live in the Bay Area, and they've recently both started hosting podcasts! Of course it was time to finally hang out together. From Aditi's home in San Jose, it's Episode 26 - where Aditi talks about the TV journalists she looked up to when she was younger and what it was like to meet and work with some of them. Hear about Full Stack Food, a new podcast, covering the merging worlds of food and tech. Mike and Aditi also taste a couple of delicious wines out of some unique new-shaped wine glasses, laugh a whole lot, and discuss putting together a Cabaret act.

Summer Books! With Amy Mair.

Mike's pal, and fellow podcast host, Amy Mair checks in with some good summer reads! The two of them also sip some good wines, and get into a serious debate about "listening" to books vs actually reading them the old fashioned way. This is really THE wine podcast that's NOT "all about wine" - but there's plenty of wine, don't worry. And to see the wines being sipped, and the books, check out Mike's Instagram! Adam started off as a food blogger while finishing up Law School in the early 2000s. Then he worked for Food Network! Then he wrote a cookbook (he has another one coming out)! Now his blog is a twice weekly email, AND he has a Podcast! On this episode we find out WHY he was in law school to begin with; why his podcast changed names a few months back; how he seemingly eats amazing meals all the time but stays trim....so much in this episode. No wonder Mike spent the better part of a year trying to get Adam on the podcast! It's a great episode.

Rachel Coe joins Mike in the Vintner's Room at Nicholson Ranch. She's just returned from a trip to France to assist in the opening of Dominique Crenn's newest venture in Paris. Rachel runs the beverage programs for all Crenn Restaurant Group projects, which keeps her super busy....and she loves it! Rachel and Mike talk about her early years, tasting wines at the dinner table with her dad, heading off to Missouri for college and what she thought might have been a career as a chef. They also discuss food and wine pairings, and why it's not always great to focus SO much on them. Plus two delicious wines are swirled, sniffed and sipped. Great conversation!

Also tennis, the "last meal" before the Covid shutdown, the "songs of the summer" and notes on a couple of delicious wines as they swirl, sniff and sip. It's a fun chat!
